My parents are STH in Tampa so I texted my dad about this. He said he's been OK, he hustles (shocker), and he will run onto the ball but also can play as a strong striker despite not being really big. Been starting lately but did well as a sub earlier in the season.
Hopefully that is not the full extent of our summer signings. He checks the right boxes: Right side of 30 Scores Not sure about pillaging the lower divisions but it is a departure from scouring the MLS dumpster. james
Well, he can't be more injured than Mullins and worse than Ortiz. As long as it's not the *last* signing, I'm okay with this.
Average points required to cross the redline the last three seasons: 46.6. If things progress as they are, the lowest team above the redline will have 45.5 points. It could be safe to assume that it will require 46 points to make the playoffs this year. To get this, DC would need 1.63 points per game from here out, or a tick worse than what the top three teams in the East have gotten or a better record than any team in the West have gotten so far this season. To me, losing this next game is close to ending our chances entirely for the playoffs.
We traded allocation $$$ and an int'l slot to Houston for this transfer. He was still subject to MLS allocation list rules because someone got a transfer fee for him (?). I think this is a link to a video of a nice goal he scored against RVA. Though these types of goals are lucky when they do go in, it does take some confidence to try. https://streamable.com/dhhay
Int'l spot for 2018 and 2019, and also we traded our 9th spot for the 1st spot, which we used on Brown, so now we're 22nd.
For once, you seem more hopeful than me. That 3-game homestand with no points effectively ended the season for me.
Not when you're desperate and can't do anything else. I do remember him a little from his time in Colorado. I thought, at the time, he was a solid MLS player with a lot of upside. asitis
Wow - that sets us up for what kind of big offseason signing going into the new venue? How many international spots would we have open if we lose Ortiz?
I believe this article is pretty accurate and community tracked https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLS_I...ts#Current_international_roster_slots_by_team We have 4 internationals (Acosta, Buscher, Kamara, Ortiz) and 5 spots. Assuming Kamara and Ortiz out, and Brown in, we'd have 2 open spots. We get 3 back after this season and lose 1 for this Brown trade. Assuming no roster changes and Brown is with us next season, that would remain 4 open spots if all my math here is accurate.
Whaddayah mean? That's a goals/match ratio that, around here, would catapult Mr. Brown to the top of the heap.
I thought it was interesting that his name popped up during the preseason as a player training with the Rowdies while still under contract with his Chinese team. This was right before we played them, and he struck me as the type of player that we would go after (former MLS prospect possibly looking to come back to the league). Other than his stint at Tampa, he's had a solid track record of scoring goals (13 in Norway, 7 in China), so his recent form is a bit of an oddity. No idea how many minutes he played or what Tampa Bay's players or form is like, but I like this move a lot more than trying to run out Kamara or Ortiz for the rest of the season.
This whole thing makes so little sense. According to Goff, Colorado got $500K transfer fee. According to the allocation rules, only players who drew a transfer fee higher than $500k require an allocation. So, why did we need to bother with that whole allocation dance/giveaway?
