With the 2017 preseason officially starting Monday, I thought I'd start a thread to collect newsy stuff. Looks like we're going to Argentina, which is really exciting, and we have CCL on February 23rd, just over a month away. Let's go to work, boys! #DTID
http://sportsday.dallasnews.com/dal...sports-consume-d-fw-including-dirks-greatness FCD gets a shout out, for lost Cowboys fans (like myself).
Bring on the preseason: Here are MLS' 5 most interesting teams to watch ... Not surprisingly, FCD makes the list.
Most interesting pre-season battles? Left back............................: Figueroa, Chala, Hernandez. Keeper: Seitz versus Gonzalez Forward: Urruti versus Colman (in theory).

Ooooooooooooof. Apparently we know one guy who won't be there. Reports in CRC say Jose Salvatierra failed medical & is training w. Alajuelense. Can confirm he's not w FCD. Expect official word soon. https://t.co/I9ZJRBSuWT— Jon Arnold (@ArnoldcommaJon) January 23, 2017
Kind of odd since he's an international. Hope they didn't pick up a big problem that he was unaware of. Those heart things are scary. Maybe just slow recovery from an injury.
Some info on the first training session, from Daniel. Seems like Lamah is already fitting in nicely with his new teammates: http://www.fcdallas.com/post/2017/01/23/preseason-first-practice-training-notes
Hmm, looks like Matt and Kellyn picked up some minor injuries: US Soccer announces that Matt Hedges (mild R knee sprain), Kellyn Acosta (mild R ankle sprain), & Kekutah Manneh have left camp. #usmnt— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) January 23, 2017
All three of them have CONCACAF games in February. Perhaps they were released to work with their teams in anticipation of those games?

OOOOF. Both injured............ http://www.fcdallas.com/post/2017/01/23/matt-hedges-kellyn-acosta-depart-us-soccer-january-camp Acosta has been diagnosed with a mild left ankle sprain, while Hedges has a mild right knee sprain. Meantime, Manneh will join Vancouver Whitecaps FC on their preseason tour in Wales. Sound like minor injuries, but preparations for the CCL will seemingly be affected.
I'd still like to hear a statement that they're being released only because of injury. With Manneh leaving to join his team in pre-season it seems odd timing for the other two involved in CCL to be leaving together. May have mild injuries but also have CCL soon. Guess we'll see if they never get called in again.
Its worth noting that Zimmerman didn't leave camp (as far as we know). I hope you're right. Hopefully they're leaving the camp for precautionary reasons as there's no reason to "push it."
That's a good point as I had forgotten he was there. Must be real injuries then. If they play for the national team it won't be until the Gold Cup now. For Zimmerman it may give him a chance he wouldn't have gotten if Hedges were healthy although they might have been paired in a friendly for a half - who knows?
My unpopular opinion is that I'm ok with them coming back to Dallas with minor knocks instead of wearing themselves out with the national team. It's going to be a long season competing for 4 trophies.

Nice recap from Daniel of day 2: We played actual soccer today!!https://t.co/b93Tm4ev0p— FC Dallas (@FCDallas) January 25, 2017
I was country over club for so long. That changed when we fired Schellas and got our man. I always wish the best for our guys though.
Many in the US are but I think that will gradually change as their club allegiances get deeper. I love the national team game but it's a side show to be enjoyed during the summer months, as far as I'm concerned. FIFA making clowns of themselves year after year doesn't help either.
