Looking forward to the 2/25 match @ Avaya. Is the Republic FO sponsoring a bus caravan like last year?
I don't think so, if I remember right that was for the Open Cup game - a preseason friendly I don't think so. I think maybe they'll do one for the game in Reno though, at least that would be smart for the first time the teams meet!
For crying out loud! NEWS: Saturday's Highway 99 Derby vs. @SacRepublicFC cancelled due to player safety concerns: https://t.co/m3xz0c7cc2#ForCityAndClub pic.twitter.com/N3jNXNqpA8— Fresno FC U23 (@FFCFoxesU23) February 16, 2017
Wow, we need to do something to get a preseason game or two in. At this rate the friendly vs Cincinnati is going to be cancelled too
At least Avaya looks to be in good condition. Officially lined up for the @SJEarthquakes 2017 season! 🙌 pic.twitter.com/Sa9A2hwD5C— PayPal Park (@PayPalPark) February 15, 2017
I was wondering when these two would ever play one another. Hopefully, ARC's new grass pitch has good drainage. BREAKING: Republic FC to face @sacramentogold in friendly on Wed, Feb. 22. Republic 5 - 0 Gold Goals from Gissie, DTS, Sammy Ochoa (PK), Chaney and an own goal. Assists from Hord and academy player Riley Kraft. In addition to Ochoa, CB Julius Jones is a trialist who also saw action.
That's Julius James, a regular with the Trinidad & Tobago national team. I'm surprised he's on trial, since he's definitely a proven player in MLS and the NASL. He played the first half. Played excellent shut-down defense, but his long passes were not great. Nothing I didn't expect from seeing him in MLS and with his national team.
Awesome! This is the Wednesday night before our season opener. Kickoff is 7:30. Match is part of STH package. Match report from Centerline Soccer: http://www.centerlinesoccer.com/201...h-report-4-1-victory-jahmir-hyka-danny-hoesen I only saw the first 30 minutes or so. With the new faces and the 'Quake's announcers apparently not knowing any of the names of our players it was kind of hard to assess individual play. Blackwood's golden opportunity came off of a bad turnover. He let the ball get too far under his feet so his shot was pretty week. Caesar's resulting centering pass was also not well hit so the chance for an early lead was squandered. Caesar also had a good opportunity off a bad pass, sprinting in on Bingham. He went down in the box. The contact was probably a little soft to call it a penalty. Many bad passes from both sides. We did have periods of good possession with crisp passing, even when pressured. SJ was clearly the better side, though.
I didn't see this match, but I'm really not surprised here. A lot of players didn't look very sharp on Wednesday even while steamrolling amateur opposition. Unfortunately, the weather and the pitch conditions have put the team behind the 8-ball in this preseason.
Exactly. A USL team handles a NPSL team, then an MLS team handles a USL team. Nothing unexpected, in fact it's the results everyone should expect.
