Exhibition matches can span the gamut. Some are 2x45' (but with unlimited subs ), just like a regular match. Some are 3x30'. It's basically whatever the two coaching staffs agree to beforehand.
Watched both games online. The team looked good, especially against BYU. I think that back line will live up to the hype. I thought there would be a goalkeeper controversy? Where the heck was Dennis? Is she injured? Defense wins Championships!
At least we broke into the Top 10: http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-women/d1/united-soccer-coaches
Yea, you guys aren't getting much respect--even as a top ten team. Not sure why South Carolina ranks so high--they lost a lot of players (though do have their top scorer back)--and Florida seems overrated as well. We shall see--early polls mean little.
I I think Erica is going with the keeper she can rely on most Dennis is exceptional, but prone to the howler. My guess is you will see her immediately if Chandler falters
Penn State 4 - Arkansas 2. Shots PSU 11 - AR 11, SOG PSU 5 - AR 5. Goals PSU - Williams, Sheva, Ball, Clause; AR - Doyle, Malham Another good win!
Greetings Nittany Lions. What are your predictions for the game Sat. against my Mountaineers? Keys to the game? Thanks in advance.
I watched their game against UVA. Their defense is NOT what it was last year and given the fact that our offense seems to be able to score almost at will so far, I think all we have to do is control Abam to keep their scoring down. We certainly have the athletes in the back line to accomplish that. Jean and Elliston are fast enough. And if she gets past them we have Chandler in the goal who is athletic enough to make the "big save" when it's necessary. Having said that, I think it will be another high scoring affair more like the Arkansas game. I predict Penn State 4-3. Should be fun to watch.
Penn State ranked 4th in latest USC poll (8-29-17): http://unitedsoccercoaches.org/web/...NCAA_DI_WOMEN/web/rankings/ncaa/di_women.aspx
Penn State's next 3 matches will be extremely exciting. The results of these matches should be telling for how well we can expect to do this season. 9/02 - at West Virigina - 7:00 pm EST 9/07 - vs North Carolina - 7:00 pm EST 9/10 - at Univ. of VA - 2:00 pm EST http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/sched/psu-w-soccer-sched.html
Haha! My thoughts exactly. I think Penn State's offense will be able to keep pace with anyone this year. My only concern is the defense. We have the players (on paper) to have a really good defense this season. The question is how long (or if) they will be able to get it together before the playoffs.
Tonight's match at WV. Time: 7:00 pm EST. Stats: http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=182142 Video: http://wvusports.com/watch/?Live=37&type=Live
That video feed is free by the way. But you gotta belt out a "Let's Goooo Mountaineers!" to get it to work...honest!
PSU lost 1-2 to WV. Did I say I was worried about our defense? Congrats to WVU. I opted not to watch the match, I just couldn't get myself to say, "Let's Goooo Mountaineers."
WVU hangs on. WVU 2 PSU 1. Forgive me but I had to put it up here. Edit: Millennium posted while I was typing. I'm not that that rude.
WVU and Penn State have played each other 20 times. WVU has won 9 Penn State has won 9 and there has been 2 ties. Why is anyone surprised at how good of a program WVU has with Izzo Brown being the coach from the beginning!!
Cause the state has an image problem. West Virginia?? Those hillbillies don't know anything about soccer. True story, when coach Izzo-Brown was hired she didn't even have a phone in her office. That's where she built the program from. She's quite a coach, at least in my biased opinion.
I read through the thread where this was debated when I first joined. I'm guessing you were one of the ones who doesn't like schools recruiting furinurs?
