I'll be at this game. Forecast is for snow likely with a high of 33. Welcome to outdoor sports in Minnesota in March.
I don't think that's advantage, I think Stott's saying no offside keep going because the defender last played the ball.
I agree with this. How could Stott call advantage if there's no foul? Also, it's fantastic he got that call right. Nikolic looked like he couldn't believe his luck.
Correct. Did the AR raise the flag? Or perhaps he's indicating that the AR should not raise the flag. Good spot of who last kicked the ball, and it makes sure that any protest is unfounded. PH
Someone who was at the game claimed the AR raised his flag. I wasn't there so I can't confirm it, but it makes sense given what Stott did.
For the resulting direct consequence, the accuracy of the decision and the high likelihood of getting it wrong, it will be tough to beat that as call of the year. And we are in week 2.
The AR certainly had his flag up and stood where he thought the offside offense took place. Stott's signal doubled as a "put your flag down" and a "come back and join us with the 2LD". Certainly a little bit comical but at the same time a great decsion (or non decision, however you want to phrase it) by Stott. There is no way the AR would have been able to determine that ball was played by a defender. And now to switch your attention, Geiger gave two penalty kicks today in PHI vs TOR. One for each team. The first one has Hagglund pulling down Herbers. It looks like the holding on the edge or right outside of the PA carried through inside the area. I was at the game and I remember Geiger was looking at AR1 before ultimately signaling for the penalty. I am certain Geiger had the foul but I think he was looking for confirmation if it was in or out. I am fine with this call and the spot. Second one comes off a free kick coming into the area. Jone pulls down Altidore. Watching the replay on the default tv camera, it seems there is some type of contact (I think there is a hold but it's tough to say considering the angle) but I suppose any hesitation I have is that the ball ultimately lands in an area away from Altidore. Certainly a criteria for a foul isn't "was the aggrieved player playing or about to play the ball" but it maybe something to consider. Considering Geiger could not have been in a better position I am okay with this call as well. If Jones held him, he held him. It came as a surprise to every in the stadium and apparently the TV production as well.
You're asking alot if you think Marrufo was gonna give a red there that early in the game. Other guys might have given that, but no way was Marrufo gonna give a red there.
I will be at the Minnesota United game as well. Interesting decision by PRO to use 4 FIFA officials and to use a native Minnesotan as the 4th official. We'll see how that plays out.
http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/ma...ct-vs-seattle-sounders-fc/details/video/97427 I thought that too. If you're going to call a foul there, it's tough to justify no DOGSO. Then again, it wasn't quite as blatant as this one: http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/ma...vs-vancouver-whitecaps-fc/details/video/97508
I'm afraid I won't be there after all. My kid suffered an ankle fracture at practice and is in a boot. With the snow forecast we're going to skip it. Enjoy the game.
Not a bad game to miss. Sitting outside with wet snow coming down is not enjoyable. Refereeing in snow is NOT on my bucket list.
It's disappointing that LA goes down a player due to simulation from Guzman (who actually hurt himself on the dive). Van Damme got his first yellow at the 24th minute for dissent and then 8 minutes later this happened...🤔🤔🤔 #LAvPOR pic.twitter.com/QCx2TUtCBR— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) March 12, 2017 Not sure if DisCo is gonna rescind the red.
did toledo actually manufacture the outcome of a dropped ball in the 90th minute, by telling the galaxy player to move back and then just plopping it down to the timbers GK? it looked really weird to me
I think they will and I wouldn't even put it past them to suspend the Portland player for "embellishment/simulation." I think it's a foul and caution, but they will see the minimal contact and over turn that.
According to the pool reporter, the foul called as attempting to trip the opponent. Toledo explained that Guzman attempted to avoid the challenge and fell as a result. If you watch the video, it does appear that Guzman takes a little hop to avoid the challenge before rolling his ankle on the landing. Viewed in that light, it's a good call. The foul Van Damme got the dissent yellow after, however, still looks like a straight dive from Chara.
