So with Atlanta supposedly revealing their jerseys sometime later this month I figured I'd kick this off. Here's a list of who gets what next year. ATL: Both CHI: Away COL: Away CLB: Home DC: Away DAL: Away HOU: Home LA: Away MIN: Both MTL: Away NE: Away NYC: Home NYR: Home ORL: Home PHI: Away POR: Home RSL: Away SJ: Home SEA: Away KC: Home TOR: Home VAN: Home Let the speculation and rumors begin!
I would hope that next season that IMFC home jersey becomes more available here in the states. Finding the authentic home in anything bigger then L was incredibly difficult and I really want that Home jersey in my collection.
Wednesday night at the Sounders STH Business Meeting it was hinted at the 2017 Away Kit would be a nod to the past, leading most to believe it will be some sort of Retro Kit
The CEO of American Family Insurance tweeted that a big announcement for Atlanta United is coming Nov 15th. He quickly deleted the tweet. Jersey unveil possibly?
Reveal tomorrow for Atlanta's jersey and there haven't been ANY leaks online? You're slipping, BigSoccer.
I can't be the only person who actually typed footyheadlines.com into my browser to find the leak that you people somehow failed to post here...only to find it lacking. What has become of us?!!?
Without so much as a prior version or template it's hard for suppliers to speculate, and it's not like we're talking about Barcelona (or Cosmos ), here. Wish I could go to the event tonight but obligations drew me away. Odds are I'll be ordering mine online tonight.
Expect a simple black/red striped shirt, perhaps plain black sleeves. Adidas stripes on shoulders like the Germany kit. Most likely nothing special.
First thing that came up there is the Premiership will have sleeve sponsors starting next season. Dear god I hope MLS doesn't follow suite.
Why? SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!! If the TV money isn't there, the dollars have to come from somewhere...........
Atl guy here, will someone tell me how this kit isn't emblazoned with HOME DEPOT across the front????? C'mon Arthur. It's your team. Own it.
I've never understood why so many fellow N. American soccer fans seem to have a need for some ridiculous nickname in the team name. It's not like Euro teams don't have nicknames, they just figured out they're not needed permanently installed in the name. Leicester City are the "Foxes" but no one seems to feel it necessary to call them the Leicester City Foxes. What, you'll mix up the teams without them? If the Chicago Fire were to rename themselves Chicago, would you suddenly not know who they were? I'm not saying teams should abandon already established names in favor of more Euro style names (although SKC did themselves some big favors) but just because a team goes with a more traditional soccer name doesn't mean they lack identity. They're from Atlanta, what else did you need to know?
Sports teams in North America have had nicknames as part of the team name since the 19th century. BTW, Australians, Kiwis, and South Africans seem to have the same issue. It is just part of what we do to identify teams and have for a long time. Watch and see whenever a new team starts in any sport in the U.S. and Canada. The very first discussion that people have about it is what will the nickname be. Here in Houston, people mostly refer to the teams by their nicknames: Astros, Texans, Rockets, Coogs, Dynamo. Otherwise you would just have a lot of "Houston". Do those have to be an official part of the team name? Probably not but it sure makes things a lot more clear. We'll see how this trend of no nicknames as part of soccer names in North America goes but so far most people just treat the FC or United as the nickname. It is kind of awkward but just listen to announcers or read the media coverage in the various cities that have the teams. They are bound and determined to call the team "FC Dallas" or NYCFC or even "Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC" as often as they can. Atlanta will probably be "United" in Atlanta but at least Atlanta United or even Atlanta United FC whenever they can squeeze it in. FC Dallas has had that name for 10 years. What nickname has developed that is useful? They tried Hoops but it didn't last. People just treat "FC" as the nickname which is pretty generic as far as an identity.
I was thinking the same thing, i dig the vertical stripes but its pretty un-inspired. I mean compared to say Philly etc.
