I will be there. With Almiron injured, the Union may have a chance. Considering that Atlanta has played Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday-Wednesday-Sunday and now Wednesday, and then Saturday (away) and then Tuesday, I wouldn't be surprised if some starters were rested. I'm debating whether I want to wear my Union jersey or just "blend in."
I'll be there too. I'm a season ticket holder but I was thinking of sitting in the away section with my union jersey. Maybe people will feel bad and offer me some free beer.
Beers are only $5. Considering they cost less than $1 at the store, that's a lot. Considering they cost $12+ at TES, it's not bad. https://www.dirtysouthsoccer.com/20...z-stadium-food-beverages-prices-5-dollar-beer If I'm an Atlanta fan, I see this as a potential trap game. I actually could see the Union getting a draw if not a win. Or, more likely, an early goal or two and then a classic "That's So Union" meltdown.
When seeking to climb from the depths of the conference, be careful not to suffer a case of the Benz. Almiron's hammy should make this a closer result than it would otherwise have been.......but the Union are all but a non-entity on the road. Despite the fact I've picked them to lose, I REALLY hope they find a way to win it. Would save me an off-season of being tormented by my nephew-a dyed in the wool 5 Striper. He has promised to treat me to a game there next time I can visit in season, so I'd be interested in the takes of any who are going in terms of expectations. It was still being finished when I rolled by it this summer on the MARTA.
Make that 7-15-2 as of 10/22! And still missing the playoffs. (Honestly, how "Union" would it be for the team to win its last 5 games and still miss the playoffs???)
Part of me wants to see them win the rest of their games and still miss the playoffs heartbreakingly in the final match day. Then the season will have gone maximum Union.
I want to see them go on an 11 game winning streak: 5 in the regular season and 6 in the playoffs. I'll see all of you in Vancouver for MLS Cup!
This is always where I get torn in 2 as a fan. I feel the way you do, as I obviously I want an MLS Cup. But then I think does this team/FO deserve it? I think I would enjoy the whole thing more if it were a team that I liked 100% top-to-bottom. The 2008 Phillies were one of those teams. There was just nothing unlikable about them, and it made the whole trip that much more incredible. An 11 game win streak would be exciting. But to see that helicopter fly in, and see several FO members with smug looks would ruin part of the experience. Always a tough choice.
Well, OBVIOUSLY we'd all prefer to see them win a cup. But it's not going to happen, so they may as well amuse me in the yakety sax sort of way.
Sad/Scary thing is, this team is 2 Yaro mistakes away from actually being in the playoff hunt............... (4 dropped points from winning positions against San Jose and Atlanta)
