No longer last in the east! Hugs for everyone!

So in typical Union fashion we can't even succeed at failing?

I became a fan of the beautiful game while living in England from 97-99 and have watched footy ever since. As a result, I am used to British announcers and terminology. I'll never get used to announcers calling crosses service or goals being called points.

We went from 16 in a row winless streak to a combined 7-0 over our two biggest rivals.

    What?

game always had the feel of a make-up for last time. Never expected it to go overboard, but kudos to them. Here's a sign of progress: They're learning how to play up a man. If this is indeed their last league venture at the House that Jack Kent Cooked up.......at least they leave the urinal with 3 points in the memory bank.

    Stars are easy:

*** : Picault- the most active he's been to date. Missed some opportunities, but put the game away with a beauty.

** : Sapong- In the absence of anything resembling a central attacker, CJ seemed to just resign himself to doing it all on his own. Interplay w/Pontius should have produced first half points for both......however Ilson is anything but a consistent finisher.

*-(MotM)-Medunion. GWG, 2 helpers and some toe tappin' tackles. Have to give it to him, but I sooooooooo wanna give it to Penso. Guy came up huge for them tonight. Made me wonder if he didn't give the PK against Fab because he yellowed him 3 minutes in. Gooch absolutely Giovincoed Acosta-and the no call results in his red against Pereira seconds later.

Both Herbers and Gaddis have improved from previous seasons.

Good to know we can stomp a crap team. Doesn't mean the Union are good but it is a change of pace from their prior history. Now they need to go out and take it to the big boys. Maybe Harris has decided he can defend this level of opposition. Maybe Ilson Jr can pull off the #10.

All new thoughts for me. Probably ridiculous but not thoughts I had 10 days ago.

There's nowhere to go but up, right?

I'm not even being sarcastic. I'd say we hit rock bottom back in 2012 and have been dragging ourselves down a back alley, trailing bodily fluids of various kinds, ever since.

So at this point we're either feeling the warm, numb embrace of hypothermia claim us as we curl up in our soggy refrigerator box, or we've finally stumbled into rehab.

I guess we'll start to know which it is over the coming months.

The Picault goal was my favorite. CJ with the midfield steal, Haris with the fake to create space, and Fafa with the pinpoint finish. I think the Herbers one was something of a fluke.

Missed this as I was out of town, but have it dvr'd. Of course this is the first game I miss all year...but I'll take the result anyhow. Now we need some mid-week points.

Those are four of the most beauteous goals the Union have scored in a long time. Fafa and Herbers got GOTW nominations but my personal favorite is the Medunjanin Missile.

Truth be told, Hamid probably should have had that save.

    What's the opposite of "five-hole"?

If he doinked off his face, I'm sure his inner-Shuttleworth would've won SotW. Maybe the defenders screened it? Didn't look like it deflected. Maybe the ball's velocity was too great for him to react appropriately?

I feel like he tried to punch it and just missed. It actually grazed off his arm. Maybe it was so fast he got caught in between pushing and punching

It was also really far out so I think it may have surprised him more than anything

yeah, a bit. He was partially screened, and reacted late. He was in place to stop it, but the ball seemed to dip a tad before impact and literally flew through his arms ! It was one he wished he had back no doubt. Having stoned Sapong and Rosenberry in the first effort, perhaps he was due for a bit of a misplay? 2nd goal a failure to mark Gooch properly, nothing he could have done. Last 2 were the product of man up + well placed shots. Can't fault Hamid on anything but the first.

It had so much spin on it that it was probably too difficult to predict and also would kick off his body at a weird angle unless it was caught or punched just right.

For me, it's the goal of the game because it's the GWG and the only one we got without being a man up.

Gooch's goal was totally and completely on Boswell who, by the by, is a complete and utter "see you next Tuesday". Loved his douchey shoulder shove on Fafa ...
