http://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2017/01/05/la-galaxy-ii-announce-roster-changes-ahead-2017-season Options for Turnley and Villarreal were used. No word on the coaching field yet
Galaxy II will not exercise contract options on forward Kainoa Bailey, midfielder Alejandro Covarrubias, defender Lee Nishanian, midfielder Bryam Rebellon, and forward Denzel Slager. Not sure about Fuji
That doesn't surprise me very much. None of those players looked like they had much potential. But boy we're short of players.
If they're really pushing for more use of the Academy and GIIs, then we'll end up signing a ton of Academy kids. It may include players who are in college, though, such as Malcolm Jones at UCLA.
So here are the notable academy 99's Eric Lopez (already a G2) Oscar Penate Leo Zulli Ian Lonergan Eric Payeras The latter two are graduating in 2018 I believe. We have two more classes to go before we hit the talent-rich classes, although maybe we'll reach down as we did with Lopez. Edit: there's also some new players added to the U-18 team who I don't know much about
I think it's just a mess up with the article. The article says: Nine of the 10 players on the LA Galaxy II roster are products of the LA Galaxy Academy. The list later in the article only has 9 players on it, the lone non-LA academy grad is Josh Turnley. I'd imagine Fujii is still around. Someone with a twitter account should tweet Adam Serrano or the Los Dos twitter page for clarification.
Ive tweeted, no response and they keep circulating the article. Ive been checking to see if they add him. He signed two seasons ago should be under contract
Really interested in the coaching staff. Do they move up current academy coaches like Kleiban and Munoz? Does Rob become head coach? Do we look outside of the organization? They have about a month before preseason starts.
I would leave Kleiban and Munoz and hire someone with professional coaching experience preferably MLS. We need the youth coaches go continue developing the youth. We need a coach that can prepare the second team for the first
Munoz is already identified as the Academy Director in the NSCAA Convention Brochure. I expect Kleiban moves up with his players to the U18 team if they're ready.
I think Baxter said they are vetting internal candidates for G2 positions. I think they have a chance at the assistant level but I wouldn't have either of them as the head coach. It just depends on what are their ambitions. There is opportunity for people to move up if they desire.
For Kleiban's players I think it might be time for a new voice. He has had them for a long period of time and it might do them good. Even though Munoz is identified as that for now I remember a couple years ago where LA announced their academy staff with Vanney and Razov and those guys both left within a couple months. Things change quickly.

LA Galaxy II @LAGalaxyII 2m2 minutes ago BREAKING: @LAGalaxyAcademy Director Mike Muñoz named #LosDos Head Coach: http://laglxy.com/2joTMZm I guess they are really taking this internal promotion bit seriously. Wonder if Kleiban will take over as Academy Director?
I feel more excited about Munoz as G2 coach than Onalfo with the first team. G2 might actually play decent soccer this year!!

I think they might keep Munoz in the dual role and move Kleiban up to assistant on G2. Looks like we will be looking for more academy coaches.
824079100524363776 is not a valid tweet id Laurent Courtois is back at the club, and he's now an assistant coach for G2. He was respected and highly regarded by the OL fans for his work with the youth teams.
