Gold Cup Doubleheader July 14th, 2017 Costa Rica 3-0 French Guiana Canada 0-0 Honduras Toyota Stadium, Frisco, TX Attendance: 10,098
10,098 is disappointing. According to Wikipedia, the lowest attendance of Gold Cup 2015 was 12,598 for the Third Place game, the lowest attendance for any other game or doubleheader was 16,674 for Jamaica vs. El Salvador and Canada vs. Costa Rica in Toronto, and the lowest attendance for any other game or doubleheader in the USA was 18,467 for Haiti vs. Honduras and USA vs. Panama in Kansas City. Also notable is that in Gold Cup 2015, Groups A and B had the lowest attendance for the last doubleheader and Group C had slightly higher attendance for the last doubleheader than for the first one. I wonder if the attendance for the last doubleheader in each group would be higher if half the teams advanced instead of two-third. It was the lowest Gold Cup game or doubleheader attendance since 7,059 people went to Jamaica vs. Costa Rica and El Salvador vs. Canada in Columbus on July 7, 2009.

Liga MX Doubleheader: Super Copa MX Queretaro 2-0 Club America StubHub Center, Carson, CA Attendance: 13,783 Campeon de Campeons Tigres 1-0 Chivas StubHub Center, Carson, CA Attendance: 25,667 I assume the Super Copa attendance number is a subset of the overall number as it was advertised as a full-day event with the Gold Cup match shown in between. But the Campeon match was packed when I watched the first few minutes.

Some historical perspective on foreign teams touring the US: https://www.fourfourtwo.com/us/feat...dium=twitter&utm_m_medium=t&utm_medium=social Polonia Bytom is a small club in the Silesian region of Poland. Hindered by hooligan fans, some with overt Nazi sympathies, it finished last in the third tier of Polish soccer this spring, dropping into the obscurity of the country’s regional divisions. And in a museum vault in Bytom, at least for now, it holds the American Challenge Cup, one of the most impressive trophies ever awarded in North American soccer. The trophy itself, donated by brewery magnate Rudolph J. Schaefer, is stunning, and the competition to win it was worthy. Participants in the International Soccer League over its six-year history from 1960 to 1965 included Bayern Munich, Everton, Monaco, West Ham United, Sampdoria, Red Star Belgrade, Sporting Lisbon, and Brazilian side Bangu.

Jose Mourinho wants to bring ManU back to the US next summer: http://www.espnfc.com/manchester-un...wants-us-return-sources?ex_cid=UKSocial_GC_FB Speaking about this summer's tour, the manager said: "Here, we have everything. "The facilities are very good. The organisation is very good. Since 2004, I am still searching for the first mistake. The first mistake never arrived. It's amazing." The tour has taken United to LA, Salt Lake City, Houston and Washington DC for games against LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Last year, United endured a chaotic tour of China which ended with the cancellation of the Manchester derby against City because of the state of the pitch in the Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing.
