Is it me, have I not been paying as much attention as in the past....or are Mex club team gates/Central American nat team gates getting smaller over the years? I know prices are way up....that and the ease with which to get streams to follow your team surely has something to do with it. Am I off?
The prices also seem outrageous. Well, nothing is outrageous until folks stop showing up. Might be happening. Hell, I recall when Brazil visited Gillette a few years ago and the crowd was middling to sparse. We were in the middle of JK sucking the life out of the team, and many of us refused to go out of protesting JK (Sunil got the list and it wasn't small....all old timers, many of us he knew).....but I was still shocked to check prices to show him how much rev he was losing. Three adults would have eclipsed $400 (inc parking, drinks, etc...would have been good seats...not super) and I couldn't fathom it. With the large Brazilian pop in and around Boston they must have felt the same way. Hardly a hardcore swell of support for them. 5,10,15 years ago that event draws over 50K on a weeknight easy. Easy. It seems that even in the US folks are finally catching on. Soaring tix prices and meaningless friendly isn't a reason to drop big bucks. Mexican Nat fans however.....my goodness. That is still the golden ticket. Against almost anyone, and whomever is on their squad.
