So is MVP for the first half of the season???? Bastian? His influence has been immense, but he was not here from the beginning of the season? 2 goals and 5 assists, despite playing further and further back. McCarty? His play has been exemplary, but he really didn't want to be here. That's seems to have changed. Nikolic? 14 goals and 2 assists in 17 games? Those are MVP numbers. Also, he does not stop demanding the ball all game long. He is constantly in the right position. Seems to miss too many "sitters" to be great (although, he has 14 goals from 33 SOG, pretty good ratio). Accam? 10 goals and 6 assists in 15 games. By the way, in the first half of the season, he has equaled his season high (10 in 2015, 9 in 2016) and he had 7 assists in his first two years with the Fire combined. Is it conceivable that the Fire could have two 20 goal scorers this season?
Evidently, Accam's been called up to Ghana's national team. Am guessing the Fire won't have him against Vancouver.
Doesn't mean much, but Soccer America has Polster and McCarty making the Gold Cup team: https://www.socceramerica.com/article/73904/usmnt-our-23-picks-for-the-gold-cup.html. If true, great for them, but will they miss any Fire games?
Dax was the only one called up. I think he'll miss at least 2 games. The Vancouver one and then one later in the month and then if US keeps advancing probably another one. Also I really really hope we do not sell Accam. I get his value will probably never be higher but the guy adds just a different dimension to the attack with his speed that we just wouldn't be able to replace. Even if the Polish guy was brought in.
Lillard, Pineda and Gutman training with the first team. Probably been at it for awhile now, but I just learned of it. Love this. Am assuming Lindley is on US team duty or some other commitment.
Good to know, thanks. And therein lies the value of Juninho. As to Accam, you're preaching to the choir. His pace is irreplaceable. Can't sell him off now.
Yeah i thought he'd miss more but forgot they take off some time during the tournament. Hopefully Juninho can step up. I liked the signing when he came in because of his excitement and what he did with the Galaxy but he has just been underwhelming for how much we gave up for him. Hope he starts playing better for us.
Upon reading this, it says he won't miss any games? Idk now....I was kind of going off of Accam and how he was leaving to go to Ghana for training leaving today so I figured Dax would head off with the US team to start training too....so who knows now haha my bad with the bad info https://www.hottimeinoldtown.com/20...med-to-the-final-23-man-usmnt-gold-cup-roster
Just saw the roster for the USMNT Gold Cup. As if we needed the reminder, Sean Johnson is one of the 3 keepers. How much better would we be if we still had SJ? Lampson/Bava have been adequate, for the most part, but I'd feel better if Johnson was our keeper. Pauno's biggest mistake? I think so.
I'm guessing he'll play. Their mini-pitch is an utter abomination. Does anyone know what their stadium plan is?
You would think their ownership group with all the $$$ they have would have a plan to build a soccer specific stadium sooner rather than later.
