Time to turn off the TV. Last thing I need to see is our incompetent president handing over the useless trophy to Bayern.

Kimmich is not on Lahm's level yet, let's slow down a tad.

    "On the way". Agreed

We have two wannabe midfielders as our outside backs

Thank you. It would have been nicer with a victory. Oh, well.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall during the exchange between Rauball and Hoeneß.

Can you blame them? Mids get all the glory. Everyone loves Xavi and Iniesta but not enough people appreciate how instrumental Alves is, despite being, alongside Lahm, the premier FB of this generation. Barça basically began to come apart when he left.

It's changing thanks to TT and Pep. You'll see how important Raphael will be in the squad this year.

My biggest doubt this season is PB.

Anybody wants to deny that we got fücked again. Bayern don't spend big on players because they need money for the VAR refs.

Yeah. I don't understand at all how you don't get that reasonably given the benefit of video. This is pretty much unmistakable evidence that there's a slant towards Bayern in reffing. Any reasonable person with a working pair of eyes should disallow this goal.

That is similar to the line shown on TV with Kimmich pretty much on the same line with Piszczek's right foot who seemed a bit slow coming out for the offside trap. The other Bayern players are in the passive offside. So it seems it was a legit goal but that is what sucks about the passive offside rule. Lewa clearly benefitted from the headstart he had from being offside.

Lewandoski was not active and Kimmich looked level

It's funny you say that when the picture posted shows Kimmich in an onside position.

They worried about Lewy, who wasn't even in play at that moment

Just watched this on vacay. A few things I took away:

    1. Lewa is a douche. He's becomming a bigger and bigger whiner on a daily basis, and it's nauseating.
    2. I thought Pulisic looked amazing, and he continues to develop/grow. He uses his speed well, in that he keeps the ball close and head up. Huge ceiling for that kid.
    3. Rudy is for Bayern what I had hoped Rode would be for us. Rudy played really well.
    4. I think Bosz had a decent game plan considering we were missing our most important player (Weigl). I like that we have our pressing back, so long as we don't overkill it.
    5. Burki was solid.
    6. Our RB position worries me a lot....LP looks like he has really lost his legs the last 2 yrs.
    7. With everyone healthy, I love our squad..... save we need a new RB.
    8. Sahin was mediocre, and I'm not a huge fan of his these days. He always feels the need to make that perfect long pass which rarely ever comes off and costs us possession.

Those long passes could be deadly against a pressing team with the kind of pace Dembele and Aubameyang have.

In theory yes, but he doesn't time them well because he is so stationary. Too often he would try and force something that wasn't there. In fairness, it's the first match.

Multiple matches will make a marginal difference. Even if he were to improve, it'll be time for Weigl to return.

But having played midfield for years, I agree with you. He needs to move and make decisions on the fly. If you're stationary or slow you limit your options and invite the opposition to reposition.

We need to field Dahoud and Weigl as often as possible together.

If Bosz is going to move forward with the 4-3-3 I'd like to see Kagawa tried in place of Castro. He doesn't provide any physical or defensive presence, but he'll give effort on defence and be a better, more technical partner to Sahin/Weigl and Mo than Castro.

Completely agree - although Gotze should ultimately take that role. Castro should never be a starter.

If we can get our left flank with a healthy Schmelzer, RG, and Pulisic or Reus, that should be deadly as well

I struggle with how Götze will cope with more defensive responsibilities. Kagawa is useful as a diminutive harrier, does Mario have the same motor?

Good question. 2014 and prior Mario could have..... so we'll need to wait and see how he recovers. It's not his forte, but Dahoud and Weigl are both very capable deep lying players.
