Ok.................I know its early. The participants for the 2017 Dallas Cup are being announced, so we might as well start the thread. As of right now, there's no indication a USYNT will be involved in the Super Group. We'll see. [The U20 World Cup is in May. So the U20 team could use this as preparation for the WC I guess.] Two more SuperGroup participants were announced today: Dr Pepper Dallas Cup welcomes @MaccabiHaifa & @RedBullFutebol to the 2017 U19 Gordon Jago Super Group https://t.co/dg5SRu7Lrq pic.twitter.com/f6d7nCo0wH— Dallas Cup ⚽️ (@dallascup) January 9, 2017 So we're now up to: Everton Coritiba Monterrey Fluminense Ryutu-Kezai University FC (Japan) Maccabi Haifa Red Bull Brazil Red Bull Brazil, by the way, won a bunch of youth tournaments recently. 2016 Volksbank Cup in Germany and the Otten Cup in the Netherlands. Last year there were three domestic teams named to the event. RSL, FCD, and the US U20 national team. I think its a safe assumption that FCD will also be there this time, but haven't seen that officially announced.
As far as the Generation Adidas Cup goes, qualification was held in the fall. http://www.mlssoccer.com/generation-adidas-cup/2017/qualifying The Generation Adidas Cup Finals will again also be at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Those take place from April 7 to April 15, 2017. If I've been reading the links right, the MLS teams that have qualified for the event are............... Atlanta United Orlando City FC Dallas Toronto FC Seattle Sounders Colorado Rapids They will be joined by international teams, but I haven't seen any announcements.
Generation adidas is 6 games over 2 weekends. One in the fall. One in feb. After 2nd weekend, invites to gen adidas go out. Every MLS team participates, but I believe only top from each region are in top gen adidas bracket. Last year the quality of top bracket was great. Looking forward to watching this year.
Ah, so the tables in that link I posted are incomplete. More games to play. I see.........................
If a Canadian team is selected (which would be great), it will probably be Vancouver..................the runners-up in the U18 division of the DA. If 3 teams make it I'd select FCD, Vancouver, and LAG (runners-up in the U16 division). We'll see. The organizers have a formula they use as a guideline for the number of Texas teams invited, domestic teams invited, and international teams invited. My trio there covers the bases of a Texas team, and domestic team, and an international team.

You might get your wish now!!!! It'll be interesting to see how FCD approaches this. Pomykol, Ferreira, Reynolds, and Reid are all age-eligible for the Dallas Cup.
TFC academy beat FC Dallas last time they played, but then blew it against the other teams in their group. I'd like to see if it was just a one off, or is the only non USSDA MLS academy of a higher pedigree.
TFC will warm up for FCD by playing Juventus............................. Toronto FC academy to play in prestigious Viareggio Cup http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/02/08/toronto-fc-academy-play-prestigious-viareggio-cup

Flu had to drop out due to financial considerations, which is quite a demonstration of the problems going on with Brazilian football these days. By the way, FCD's Monterrey affiliate [FC Dallas Mexico] will be taking part this year in the Dallas Cup. I find that whole thing fascinating even if it hasn't had any effect on the first team or DA teams. 831364074139242496 is not a valid tweet id
Folks also might be interested in GenAd qualifying, which is starting back up now. I think this upcoming weekend.................. 2016-17 Generation adidas Cup: Qualifying https://t.co/entKYPNGds— Dallas Cup ⚽️ (@dallascup) February 14, 2017
TFC up 2-0 early on vs SKC. Looking forward to TFC vs FC Dallas. A pass across goal from Petrasso and finished by Faria makes it 2-0 for the reds early on. First goal was from Dada-Luke. #GACup— Toronto FC Academy (@tfcacademy) February 17, 2017
Akinola slips it through to Petrasso who calmly finishes to make it 3-0 here in the first half!— Toronto FC Academy (@tfcacademy) February 17, 2017

Sorry to reply to your post for the 3rd time....................... On Extra Time Radio the academy director of SKC mentioned that they decided to use have some of their top U16s in pre-season with Swope Park Rangers (their reserves) instead of at the GenAd Cup. That includes their marquee youngster at this level Max Rugova. That's what we should all want our MLS clubs to do, but it doesn't really give us an accurate picture of their talent crop. They're valuing the promotion and development of their players over results at a meaningless youth competition. How dare they!? I'm very impressed by the ambitions of the SKC academy. They're a couple of years behind NYRB, FCD, RSL, etc as far as US-based academies..........but they're catching up quickly.
