Cristian Martinez is playing for the Panamanian U-20's vs the US U-20's today at 3:30 on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/concacafcom
Multiple choice: Guess what Justin Meram did in a WCQ this morning- A) scored a goal B) drew a red card for a player defending him C) sent in the pass that led to the PK
D) all of the above note: the announcer thought it was harsh, but it was actually the players second yellow card, so thus a legit red note2: both Iraq and Thailand were already eliminated from World Cup contention before kickoff, but hey, a WCQ win on the road is a win on the road Bangkok party time!
In Ghana's 1-1 tie with Congo last week, Mensah played the full 90, and Afful came on at the half when they were already down 1-0. For the Congo goal, a Ghana defender (not Mensah, but I think it might have been the guy Afful came on for) lost the ball deep in their own half, and Mensah didn't do a great job of covering his guy and he scored. I'd show you the highlight on youtube, but it's not fun to look at.
Iraq won 1-0 vs UAE today. Justin had a nice little dribble and pass in the play that led up to the only goal. Played 71 minutes and picked up a yellow. Ghana had a big 5-1 win at Congo today to keep their World Cup hopes alive. Mensah and captain Afful both played the full 90. Fair amount of minutes for our guys this week. We'll see how they are for this weekend's Crew game.
Paging PO’d... Maybe delaying the MLS playoffs during the FIFA international break ISN’T such a bad thing!
Isn't Norway's match a friendly? Or are they still alive in UEFA qualifying? If it's a friendly and we had a playoff match, he should decline. If it's a WC playin match, he should go. Still, MLS shouldn't delay the playoffs because of European matches.
Norway is not in the playoffs. Yet why would he decline if he has international aspirations? Then there’s still the issue of MLS playoffs going on when some nation (unknown when playoff planning was done; turns out to be HON) from CONCACAF would still be trying to qualify? On that I guess we simply disagree.
