He never said anything Bruce and numerous others haven't. Plus, the USSF made a practice of steering our best overseas long before Jurgen arrived. They'd invite scouts to Bradenton for that purpose.
El Salvador is a team comprised of what scientists call "scumbags". Their dramatic antics, coupled with dirty, immature behavior, is absolutely standard. Honduras kicks the shit out of everyone, while El Salvador tries to bait you. Gonzalo Jara-style. I'm surprised El Salvador didn't grope Altidore more, because he was angry all game. Couple of wet willies, maybe a wedgie or two, and Altidore would've decked someone.
is there a term for the assist hat trick? asshat trick? (dempsey delivers the best defense splitting pass out of midfield we've ever seen. the problem is generally that he can't pass it to himself.)
unlike yourself, he didn't exactly rum himself ragged in that match. All night people. All night! (Ok. last one.)
Let players go shower and relax. Stop asking them stupid questions as their trying to walk off the damn field/court.
Realistically, they are CONCACAF refs and didn't care because they were told to officiate the game this way
Got the win. Scored a couple of nice goals. Game was basically over at halftime. I am interested in seeing how many fans come out to Jerry World to see the USA in the stand alone Semi. They seem to always host Mexico matches so it will be new for the Gold Cup fans in the area. Los Ticos will be a hard nut to crack but I think we will find a way.
I think the most disappointing part of this match was El Salvador's play and the referee's refusal to police it. They were beyond dirty and deserved a sending-off. Hedges was the second-most disappointing part of the match.
True, but the Championship and the fourth division of the BL and the Swiss league aren't better than MLS. That's where it starts to get questionable. Then again, it isn't like JK was turning to Lichaj or Williams based on their European pedigrees playing in the Championship.
Is Gyasi Zardes the current version of Brett Shea? Kick the ball long and run after it, with poor first touch. Our play has been poor this tournament; I don't care that it has been our "B" team. They are suppose to be some of the best players in this country. We like to blame the coach when the team plays poorly. When are we going to look at the US Soccer organization for their hand in our development. US Soccer has insisted over the last several years that it has all the answer; you can't coach our players unless you have the proper training and license. Really!! Jay Heaps went and got his "A" license, he's worst now than before he got his license. I used to tell an English friend of mine, who I coached against, England sucks in soccer. Why are we looking to them for answers? Why aren't we looking to Brazil, Spain or Germany on how to play the game? IMHO
To be honest, Arena's expression wasn't looking so thrilled, not that he ever does. I suspect he is among the critics today despite the win.
Actually, that's quite possible. There are some pretty strong medical adhesives, and it wouldn't do to have it start bleeding during a game
Or shoot someone on Fifth Ave. Apparently there's a connection between Trump and CONCACAF refereeing.
I was playing off the commentary and pre-game hype. And I was drunk. But, really, these are our North American "big guns." Should we expect better play from MLS (with a few Liga MX) based players?
De Jong is a thug. These Central American leg chopper teams do so as a team directive for 90 minutes. They ask whether or not you're willing to risk serious injury to win.
His criticisms of the US system were spot on. These weren't fringe criticisms. It's the same criticism that the smartest minds in world football have been making. He wanted players to play in leagues with a higher standard so they become better player so. What is wrong with this?
