I hope that multiple El Salvador players get retroactive red cards for some of those punches and bites. That was bush league behavior.
Anyone else have a disdain for sideline reporters? Any sport, not just soccer. They add nothing in today's internet/social media age.
It's so weird watching Borussia Dortmund highlights right after a US Soccer game...it's almost like an entirely different sport
I know who I want to believe. I think our Frankenstein roster needed a warmup. I am confident we will be better on Saturday.
It's not the US's fault it's stuck in Concacaf, having to deal with bush league nonsense like what El Salvador was doing. Why the US has not formally complained about this kind of behavior to FIFA I will never know.
I actually found that game to be somewhat tame, by their very low standards. Dirtiest team in CONCACAF, hands down (Honduras is a solid 2nd). I've long said it. Years ago in WC qualifying they must have faked injury for 15-20 minutes total trying to see out a result on their homefield. Last Gold Cup they were tackling straight through American players repeatedly at the start before that ref actually got control of the game. In u-20's they were blatantly trying to injure our players and start fights. So yeah, today is kind of tame by their standards. But add it to the list. There's a culture there that CONCACAF refuses to deter, which regularly puts our player's careers in harm's way when we play them. If I knew beforehand they'd flop here and there, commit a lot of fouls but rather run of the mill ones, and take a bite out of a player's back; I think I'd take that.
Most of their best attacking players are hurt. If we don't win it's going to be a pretty big disappointment. Of course, if Costa Rica plays like El Salvador, who knows what will happen
As the US grows in the sport and produces more Pulisics, Joneses, Johnsons, Brookses, etc, we're going to have real issues with these leg choppers. Just wait until they ruin someones career.
Jozy needed to sell that titty twister to the ref a little better. Should have barrel rolled on the ground about ten times.
I prefer playing El Salvador over Honduras. The Salvies will try to get you mad, twirling a nipple or biting, diving and pushing. But the Catrachos will try to break your ankle. I doubt Mexico comes out of tomorrow's game with all their men healthy.
He made numerous statements against the US system and the US's top domestic league. It was known that he tried convincing American players to play elsewhere.
Did you watch the Nicaragua game? Bedoya, without Bradley alongside him, did very well as a box-to-box CM.
