Will be interesting how this lines up. Nagbe as a "#10" in Skinny diamond? Bruce confident the ES won't challenge much as the back line doesn't inspire tremendous confidence.
Omar/Hedges with no Miazga? That's both a repeat mistake and serves no purpose. Lichaj and Morrow is good. No Zusi is better. Zardes is inexplicable. Inexcusable. Indefensible. Incomprehensible. Bruce clearly is playing favorites with Omar and Zardes and has a blind spot to their lack of quality. Miazga is superior to Omar, Rowe is superior to Zardes. This is the USNT FFS, not the LAG retread program. Anyway, we win 3-1.
El Salvador XI vs. #usmnt: Carrillo; Tamacas, Romero, Mancia; Pineda, Mayan, Ceren, Orellana, Larin; Bonilla, Zelaya.— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) July 20, 2017
I'd be upset with selections here and there, but there's enough talent to crush El Salvador regardless.
Ticos about to make only their second semi in the last 7 Gold Cups (the first came by beating Guadeloupe). Certainly surprising for whats arguably the third biggest team in the region
yes, but he played terribly. This line up has comedy value. For that, we shall be entertained. Gonzo and Hedges set to benny hill. altidore in slow motion but in actual time. dempsey diving. swan lake! it's fun.
Bruce is letting Zardes work himself back into shape. Will be interesting to see how the midfield lines up.
Anybody can look good vs a country whose name I can't even spell. It's like if a MLS team wins vs real Madrid it doesn't mean anything because we already know the players are still inferior.
Even more of a reason to go with Miazga and Rowe instead. I hope Rowe will sit back, drink a few beers during this one and throw a dart at a board with Arena's face on it every time Zardes has a bad touch. To be fair though he might not have enough darts for that.
