Right now i'd take Pontius over Zardes, otherwise no problem with the lineup. Let's see what we have with these fullbacks.

We've got Martinique and Nicaragua up next. Now is not the time to creative and confident. We need points!

Because Bedoya can help a team carry a ball up and make incisive passes? I have confidence in Rowe doing the latter but not the former. I think individually Acosta and McCarty are questionable as c(d)m's and together they are flawed in terms of range against speed (mostly a Dax problem), ball-winning, dribbling, and moving the ball quickly and efficiently. Maybe you stick Roldan between them and it would work. Otherwise Roldan-Acosta and Roldan-Dax w/ Rowe ahead is worth a try. Dax-Acosta doesn't make a lot of sense in a competitive match until Nagbe can be in front of them helping link to the attack, and that would probably be in a counter setup against the likes of Mexico and maybe Costa Rica (who brought a strong side).

If we're gonna swap guys around, why not give Hamid (or Johnson) a shot?

Did Miazga go back to Europe?

In any case, it's a interesting group. Lets see if Acosta & Roldan are good enough to boss this minnow.

Guzan carried us to a point. Deserves the start and probably has to be in there with all the changes

dig this lineup. like it a lot. Agudelo, Roldan, hedges, morrow, lichaj. Lots of guys out there looking to make an impression. I expect those guys to come out hungry.

I understand the situation in goal... I don't see either of those guys getting close to the WC squad.

Miazga is on bench which is baffling to me.

A veteran (Rimando, Robles or my choice out of the group if he is eligible is Frei) or a youngin (Horvath, Steffen, Gonzalez).

I'll tell you what I don't like, though: Gonzalez. In a pinch I think (hope) Bruce'll come to his senses with Zusi. I do believe that his weakness is likely his trust is Gonzo.

    looks like

    --------------------morris---agudelo-
    ----licaj----roldan----Acosta--Zardes----arriola
    -------------morrow--gonzo--hedges
    -------------------gk:guzan

Hwvr, that's not how they will play because morrow would be wb, not licaj.

    they will play 442

    -----------------morris---agudelo
    -----zardes---Roldan---acosta---arriola
    ----morrow----hedges--gonzo---licaj
    -------------------------gk: guzan

I don't like Zardes dropping deep on flanks to help morrow, I don't like 442 period:thumbsdown:

Nope - He's frequently shake even with a veteran lineup in front of him - But more importantly, we already know what he's got - If you thinks he's great, we already know that - If you think he'll do in a pinch (which I do), then we already know that -

Gold Cup is time to try out players who need a chance to show what they can do with quality players around them, and that means Hamid and Johnson should be starting games 2 and 3

yeah the Zusi thing worries me a lot more, i hope Yedlin remains an unquestionable healthy number one at right back and Lichaj wrestles down that number two spot.

The Gonzalez thing, hes always gonna choose his guys. I know we got better guys, but if Gonzo is starting the world cup in 2018 yeah that would be pretty bad. Hopefully EPB, Opara, Besler, Zimmerman, some of the other options make their moves.

Many of us including myself say Agudelo has the skill to be a starting striker for the USMNT. Well if that's true this is his time to shine. He's starting against a minnow. Injuries have been an excuse in the past. Now there is no excuse. Prove me right Juan, today is your day.

Really nice breeze in the stadium at the moment. Won't be too bad to play in if it stays like this.

This will be a true test for this USMNT XI. A lot of Zusi, Besler haters can be justified tonight with a strong game tonight. The midfield is another chance to shut down a lot of talk. Up top, I wouldn't think they will have any trouble scoring if they can receive the ball. changing prediction 2-2

Think this is a big game for Agudelo and Morris. If they don't show well Dwyer will be past them by a lot
