Shouldn't be. Most of the time K-League teams usually play against Vietnamese clubs in the play-offs.
CHAMPIONS JEONBUK TO LEARN ACL 2017 OPPONENTS ON TUESDAY TODAY http://the-afc.com/afc-champions-le...eonbuk-to-learn-acl-2017-opponents-on-tuesday http://www.the-afc.com/uploads/afc/files/acl17_group_stage-draw_mechanism.pdf
And as many of you know, Choi Yong-soo is manager of Jiangsu Suning. So... Jeonbuk not tossed out for match fixing?
They will probably face Ha Noi T&T of Vietnam, who were beaten 3-0 in the play-offs by Pohang last year. So yes, an easy ride, especially given that this one-leg tie will be at home for Jeju.
Group E: Kashima Antlers (Japan), Muangthong United (Thailand), Playoff Winner of Group 4, Playoff Winner of Group 1 (Most likely Jeju United) Group F: Seoul (Korea), Japan Cup Winner or Runner-up of J-League (Japan), Western Sydney (Australia), Playoff Winner of Group 3 Group G: Guangzhou Evergrande (China), Suwon Bluewings (Korea), Runner-up of J-League or Bronze Medalist of J-League (Japan), Eastern (Hong Kong) Group H: Adelaide United (Australia), Jiangsu Suning (China), Jeonbuk Hyundai (Korea), Playoff Winner of Group 2 Most likely Suwon will face Urawa while it is still hard to predict the representative from J-League that will face FC Seoul in the group stage.
Scathing article from Scott McIntyre on the inclusion of Jeonbuk's participation in the 2017 AFC Champions League. http://www.foxsportsasia.com/news/afc-champions-league-jeonbuk-inclusion-blemish/ He has a point, but I personally don't give a rat's arse given that talking about integrity and football is a joke in itself, especially for the AFC. Not to mention it would be commercially disastrous for AFC Champions League to throw out the reigning champions for match-fixing, and there is the massive Hyundai sponsorship they have to think about as well.
It seems that Jeonbuk can't defend their title. Some chances to be excluded from ACL 2017, but I don't think it will happen.
A new AFC committee will investigate this to decide whether to expel Jeonbuk or not. But I wouldn't expect much, given that it's AFC. There is 100% chance that they will clear Jeonbuk and show that they are a joke committee. What do you expect? Hyundai effectively bankrolls KFA and K-League.
This so-called "bribery" occurred in 2013 in the K-League, am I correct? I agree on the punishment. It should be swift and forceful. But how does it relate to Jeonbuk and 2017 ACL?
Kawasaki Frontale will square off Suwon, Guangzhou, and Eastern in the group stage as they fell short in the Japan Cup Final against Kashima Antlers. Jung Sung-ryong will play against his former club in ACL. FC Seoul will meet Urawa Reds.
Jeonbuk have been excluded by the AFC - Jeju takes their place and Ulsan takes the play-off spot. http://www.kleague.com/KOR_2016/med...16/media/news_read.asp?intSeq=17862&bType=all These idiots have messed it up. I wanted Kim Do-hoon to just concentrate on the league (and FA Cup). Now he has to think about all three at once
All because of what happened between certain players in 2013? There is no evidence of the club involvement.
They must be thrilled spending millions to get what they wanted: the ACL title. No shred of honour in that. But whatever.
