Kim Bong-gil is gone. Good riddance.
Although they're cousins, work ethics and mentality are totally different, 호로곤 wouldn't have been able to do what Kim Pan-gon did with Hong Kong Football. Still too early to say anything more despite a small sign in decency of competence, but hopefully he can continue to do a good job and get/become better than his predecessors.
Director Kim Pan-gon's statement regarding the selection of the new U-23 manager: - Will need a proper process in order to hire the new manager. - Will gather 3-4 candidates of high level and competitiveness through the proper process. - Values performance over name value. - Will not hire a candidate with pro-team management alone, and instead will decide after seeing the results of each season. - New manager needs a good vision (Hawk's eye) and must be able to make decisions through a short amount of time. - Believes the new manager must be able to select outstanding players and help their skill(s) grow/expand through his tactics. - Must select someone that's right for the philosophy of our football. A Korean philosophy is needed rather than a Director or a specific person's taste, in other words, must not select based off personal preference or Yes-Men (A big fcuk you to 호로곤). - New U-23 manager will be selected within this month. - Contract will run till the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. - Kim Pan-gon wants to see the new manager continue his management and development/improvement of the team. And, although it will be a short time to prepare for the Asian Games, he wants to help the new manager fully prepare in the best possible way.
I've bever seen a source that stated they're related. I think they only have a similar name. Kim Pan Gon seems to work very seriously. I hope he can continue to impress.
The national team coach selection committee is meeting on the 28th and will most likely choose the next U23 coach and announce it around 3pm KST.
like seriously? -_- KFA is set to appoint Kim Hak-bum as a manager of the U-23 national team for the 2018 Asian Games. pic.twitter.com/OV9VqXtHX0— Korea Football News (@KORFootballNews) February 27, 2018
[Official] Kim Hak-bum is the manager of the U-23 national team. http://v.sports.media.daum.net/v/20180228150843405 https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/we-must-not-accept-mediocrity.1483536/
could have made a lot worse choice, cant really complain much given what we have. goal for kfa should be to improve the domestic coaching pool
Given the short amount of time, the KFA made the best choice. But once again it's Kim Horogon's massive fvckup from the beginning...
Son Heung-min, Suk Hyun-jun, Kwon Chang-hoon.
Never said anything about wanting Choi Yong-soo as the U-23 manager, only cited that he could be the one that refused the offer. And, if I recall correctly of what he said in an interview he took not too long ago, he said he wanted to take the time to reevaluate his career as a manager (Learn from mistakes etc.) before returning to management again. If anything, FC Seoul needs him more than the U-23 national team does, especially considering how Hwang Sun-hong is wrecking the team apart.
Wait what's happening to Hwang Sun-Hong? I recall he was a super good manager for Pohang and FC Seoul.
I think he just doesn't fit Seoul. Didn't help his reputation either to sell his best striker to the main rival and loan out his captain. It would be a big surprise if he had a decent turn this season.
Was great with Pohang. Mediocre with us. Osmar hasn't been captain ever since Choi Yong-soo left us and I won't be surprised if Osmar doesn't return to FC Seoul after his loan ends. But here's Hwang Sun-hong did to pissed off the FC Seoul fans during the winter offseason: - Chased away all the veteran foreign players. - Mediocre and disappointing foreign replacements. - Poor results at their Spain training camp. Loss and drew most of their practices matches with practically no one scoring.
