just seen this: https://www.swfc.co.uk/news/2018/january/owls-announce-chief-executive-officer/ I've no problem with appointing a CEO - it's probably a good thing - but this is the lady that came to Charlton when their Belgian owner (Roland Duchatelet) took over a few years back. And he/she/they have been an unmitigated disaster at SE7. 'Unpopular' doesn't even begin to cover it.* Alarm bells are ringing at Wednesday right now to my mind. It's gonna be really interesting to see where Chansiri takes the club from here. *to be 100% fair, though, she is a bit hot by football admin standards. It's all about perspective.
owlstalk is going nuts over it. i say give her a chance... but i was shouted down...that said her tenure at charlton was an unmitigated disaster...
Neil Warnock's name is being bounced, and trounced, around over at owlstalk... https://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/sheff-wed/next-permanent-manager
well, that'd certainly be something that would turn me against chansiri. anyone but warnock. edit: and holy jesus that's a lot of gambling sites in the link there.
I'd not heard Warnock mentioned, and presumably it's a non-starter. but just between you, me, and the internet, I've always liked him - and I think he'd probably do the job as well as most of the names being thrown out. for my money, though, amongst all the names out there, i'd take Curbishley in a heartbeat. him and Hoddle are the only two names on there that excite me at all.
I like Hoddle. Researching Curbishley. Warnock probably would be good. It would take a lot of warming up to though. I had hoped Bullen would get us up and running. Oh well. Mick McCarthy anyone... ? His name has shown up on a few posts too. Very Doubtful I'd think. Not sure how I feel about him either.
it's done, and as per has been increasingly heavily rumored over the last day or so, it's Jos Luhukay: i'd never heard of him until the other day, to be honest, but he's had loads of experience managing in Germany (he's Dutch, himself) with clubs as big as Monchengladbach and Stuttgart, but with 2nd division experience as well with smaller clubs like Paderborn and Augsburg. He also got Hertha promoted to the top tier of the Bundesliga in '12-'13 establishing the record for most point accumulated in the 2nd division. For whatever that's worth. he's supposedly a disciplinarian, which could be interesting given what a load of fannies are currently earning a wage for Wednesday. and he also doesn't take much shit from above, either, which could also be interesting, and Chansiri is said to be a bit of a my-way-or-the-highway chairman. at any rate, we'll soon see how it all plays out. Good luck, Jos.
I kinda wish we'd lost yesterday and been able to focus on the rest of the regular season. time to buckle down. i think a cup run, unless it is relatively successful i.e. final 8* or so, is going be more of a distraction for us in an already topsy turvy season. that said the more game like coaching/managing situations could/should be a benefit for Jos. UP THE OWLS!! BLUCK THE FADES!! *yes, I've no idea how far along we are in this one. we might be in the final right now for all i know.**.. ** that was sarcasm.
shame on you! cup runs are brilliant, and if Wednesday are really shit enough to go down this year, it won't be because they played too many cup ties. "I kinda wish we'd lost yesterday" ... outrageous. now go to your room and think about what you've done.
pigs tomorrow, at the sty. espn3 I'm told, but I'll be working from 2pm, so it's just sneaking peaks on our demo tablets during the game. Jos's first match in charge, and it's gonna set one helluva marker one way or the other. Then again, lose this one and it can only go up from there. ... And vice versa, I suppose. I can't say that I'm feeling good about this one, to be honest. UTO FTB
0 - 0 FT and it feels like a win. I've only seen a few matches online this season but that was one of our better efforts.
