Whoo! Looks like we have some wiggle room on the timing because he is out of contract. Phew.

I'm now feeling a lot better about the season. Two good pieces added. This might work out okay.

That is more good news. However, I can’t imagine that Fontas is match fit, so after the flurry of introductions and interviews, we probably wont see him for a while.

PV says they are close on a couple of deals......? . Is there something else in the works besides Nemeth and Fontas?

Well Nemeth is done, so that's very close. Fontas maybe needs a dotted i or two? But it sounds like one more player is being sought.

My guess would be a left back?

The Star piece said that even if the international visa is delayed, he's in under the cap because the contract is signed.

I think we had roster and cap space so that no one did. And there actually aren't many players I'd be happy to see traded away right now.

I don't think you can trade an on loan player, if that's what you're getting at?

I could see that, but I could also see a much stronger backup keeper

Yes you can trade on loan players, Luis Gil was traded from Orlando to Colorado while on loan last season.
I highly doubt GK is on the shopping list.

    You don't rate Zendejas?

I rate him, but more for SPR. I might be really wrong about this, but if Melia were to suffer a long term injury, i'd be more worried about keeper than any position on the side (now that we have brought in a 9 and another cb). I know we've had horrible luck at LB, but jeebus we've got a lot of players who can play that role and they can't all be injured forever. Also, I'm really happy with Lindsey playing a lot. He just gets better every time out, IMO. OTOH, if Zusi went down? Hmmm. Don't like that idea.
Up top we've now got 2 people who can come off the bench, will soon be three, and make a difference. Mids, I like the youth and our new cb has played dmid in La Liga.

I don't think the "move" Vermes was talking about was a trade per say ... and I didn't mean to say it was a trade ... just a transaction (basically an ending of said loan).

Maybe, but what else is there? FTR, it's no more accurate for anyplace else. When amounts are known publicly, it does tend to reflect them.

Might this be because , technically, the player is loaned to MLS, which then assigns him to SKC.

Yes, it's because MLS owns the contracts.

Well, I guess all the excitement is over. Now we have to wait to see if the deals they made will pan out.

I'm happy to see us get Fontas and Nemeth. It's better than the deals-didn't-come-together-blah-blah-blah that seems to happen during these windows.

This is a strong roster. I don’t see an obvious flaw in our 11. 10 years ago this group would have ripped MLS to shreds. Sadly so would many other teams today. Still, I believe with this group

Agreed. The starting 11 is as good as it ever has been. The interesting/different thing about this roster compared to rosters of the past is the off the bench options available to PV. Nemeth provides a real No.9 to start most games. Behind him you have Rubio who seems to do well off the bench, and you also have Shelton when he gets healthy. We have two high quality starters on the wing, and Gerso who provides an option off the bench that can change the game.
