The Steel have cleaned house too. Bethlehem Steel FC exercise options on five players for 2018. https://t.co/RyY1HLsNHM pic.twitter.com/VVOQxz1f6a— Philadelphia Union II (@PhilaUnionII) November 2, 2017
Typically the union have waited until late in the offseason to make deals. Given the amount of fan frustration after this year. And the resigning of Curtain, the union better make a big splash and early to convince fans that this isn't "business as usual" I think more than a few STH will be drop their tickets, with even more on the fence. Earnie better act soon, and Sugarman better open up his wallet.
I don't actually take the time to post that anymore. I created an AI to post it for me at predetermined intervals.
Unfortunately, the presser was very "business as usual". Don't hold you breathe on any game changing player/players signings
We'll keep doing what we're doing. If the ball bounces our way on more than 1 occasion, you'll all have a good time. If it doesn't, well, ... that's all we got.
So its safe to say Sugarman is no Bill Gates but holy shit he has the $$ to keep the Union competitive. https://www.forbes.com/lists/2006/12/CZ3K.html
That's from 2006. He hasn't made that kind of money since from what I understand. Incidentally, that's also the Union's problem and why they can't spend the way that MLS thought they would be able to spend. As an iStar stockholder, I hope he makes that kind of money again soon. The stock has been flat for the last few months and then trended down very recently.
I misread that and thought I had missed some big news. Unfortunately, Jim did not resign, the team resigned him.
Not that this matters because he wasn’t ever projected be much, but Samuel was an academy product... another one bites the dust.
Hearing from multiple sources RBNY are "open to trading Sacha Kljestan" this offseason. Both LA franchises seem interested.— MLS Transfers (@MLSTransfers) November 7, 2017
Earnie sounded very interested last week as well. Sasha will miss the first game of next season due to the red card.
Looks like Jose Villarreal got released by @LAGalaxy. He had 3 assists in just 389 mins this year, 5g/9a in 2350 career @MLS minutes. 1/2— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) November 7, 2017 Would have been a good summer acquisition for a test drive at #10, but need more experience at this point.
I still remember when he was set to come to the Union, Scott Kessler at Brotherly Game back in the day thought he would be better than Joel Campbell. I had a good laugh and then wondered if he confused who was who in their Saprissa highlights
I can't believe I have to log into Big Soccer in 2017, let alone to defend myself to people that still use this site, but somehow you've managed to completely misread or misremember one sentence from an article I wrote on November 30, 2011. Six years ago this month. Even if you want to ignore the full context here, I never said he was better, nor did I think he would be better. The content and context clearly states that based upon games played for their same origin club at the time left Martinez with a stronger pedigree for professional career. It's that simple. One played three games and the other played in 66 games during the same period of time when they were on the Saprissa first team together from 2009-2011. If you're going to try to crap on me from afar, at least be right.
