the league has revealed four finalists for the first two expansion spots, which will be announced before the end of the year:

    Cincinnati
    Detroit
    Nashville
    Sacramento

The finalists will make presentations to the league's Expansion Committee and Commissioner Don Garber on Dec. 6, and the MLS Board of Governors meeting on Dec. 14 will include additional discussions on expansion with ownership representatives from every team.

    Too close to Austin!

I was thinking about Columbus the other day. If we had a setup like the rest of the world, every town would have their own team. The thought of an owner threatening a town, saying that they were going to pick up and move their team to another town couldn't happen. Only in free market capitalist USA , could an owner decide to move his team from one monopolistic market to another. Never having to worry about competing to stay in the top division.

I guess your sarcasm detector is in need of service. That blinking light is a telltale sign. :p

Yeah, San Antonio paid $5 million to be in the running, but no one there knew about the secret deal to bring the Austin NeckBeardzzz just up the road a bit. Like putting another team in Wistah.

Funny how in "Socialist Europe" a team like Manchester United can threaten the local council that if you don't pay for a new stadium to replace "outdated and aging" Old Trafford, they are going to move to London. And the local politicians would tell them to "sod off" and go right ahead. See if Arsenal, Spurs or Chelsea will be willing to do a ground share for a while until the city builds your new stadium...

Also fits with Twellman's theory that Cincy MLS will buy the name Columbus Crew and put their USL club there.

I have read enough of your posts to know better. ;) I just figured that it was a good segue to post my thoughts about Columbus.:)

Edgar Castillo would have been a good pickup for us. Proven fullback, not currently playing much.
