Plus, baseball is, you know, REALLY popular in this country. Some may not realize it, but prior to the powers that be adopting "upgrade or lose your franchise" measures more than 20 years ago, many minor league teams were just subsisting and playing in ramshackle stadiums in front of much, much smaller crowds than today. The renaissance of the minors can be traced to that and the opportunity seized by Miles Wolff and the Northern League. We are seeing a confluence of factors contributing to our lower-level soccer growth, not the least of which are the USSF standards. The fly-by-night operators who were so prevalent in the late 1990s and the first decade of this century simply can't do that anymore. (They have all moved to indoor soccer. )

The official attendance for today's match: 20,151! You're incredible Cincinnati... thank you! #CINvLOU— FC Cincinnati (@fccincinnati) July 23, 2016 Played great and got a huge win. It was brutally hot today, close to a hundred degrees so many people were crowded along the concourses. Good crowd once again though.
4,179 in Richmond 4,771 in St. Louis 1,068 in KC Nothing yet from NY (where USL says they played at "Red Bull Park," unless that's a new place), OKC or today's games.
Best supported MLS second team (If you don't count Bethlehem steel) I thought crowds were lower this year but still solid for a city with a MLS team in it.
Why would you not count Bethlehem Steel? The Red Bulls are the best supported MLS second team (if you don't count all the others).
I think he was trying to get at the "MLS2 team in the same market as the MLS team" ... but did so poorly. Portland 2 is the best MLS2 team in the same market as their MLS parent club!
Tonight's official attendance for #CINvCHS: 19,229. Thanks again Cincinnati for once again proving this is a soccer town! #CINvCHS— FC Cincinnati (@fccincinnati) July 31, 2016
Before T2 play tomorrow I'm going to say it will likely be our lowest attendance of the year as 1. we have had a bad string of results but more importantly 2. The have a first team Champions league game at the same time in Providence Park. Bad planning by clubs front office. T2 season ticketholders including myself will be at the CCL game.
Man ... it seemed like they had a good group that may have known how to market and use social media and things to really draw a crowd ... questioning if they know what they're doing ... or is it simply a location thing? HUGE market (relatively speaking) with very poor performance at the gate. I mean, this is OC Blues bad.
The location does not help. (It's great for me, it's like 20 minutes away.) But neither the predecessor club, the Wolves (nor any predecessors, really) nor United have drawn well and they have played in a variety of places. The market is kind of meh, despite its size. And I have my doubts about this group's ability to effectively exploit it. Supposedly there may be another new investor soon.
I don't think Swope Park is actually getting 1900 a game. I would say 400 to 500 would be a generous crowd for them.
July 30 1920 at RGV 8351 at Louiville Aug 1 1254 at Seattle Aug 2 1837 at Harrisburg 3753 at OKC Aug 3 78 at Montreal, think we have an all time low for USL! 805 in Phoenix Aug 4 3517 at Tulsa Quite a few other USL attendance numbers missing from this time period.
Aug 8 3824 at SLC Aug 10 957 at Vancouver 5563 at Louiville ? at Montreal No USL attendance figures released for 11 games on Aug 6, 7, 11, and 12th. USL hoping for D2 sanctioning and their staff looks completely incompetent with regards to even releasing attendance figures.
