No medals for Iceland or Finland so far ... I think Finland need to pin their hopes on the athletics events, wrestling and perhaps sailing ....

Norway have won 2 rowing Bronze medals, whch was expected ... just as the Norwegian women's handball team should be able to bring home the Gold ... otherwise I do not know if there are any other clear medal favorites ..

Sweden ... 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze medals so far, mainly thanks to Sarah Sjöström's 3 swimming medals ..... otherwise it's looking very good for Henrik Stenson in the Olympic golf tournament right now ...

Denmark .... 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals so far ... it was expected that the men's lightweight four in rowing would take home at least the Silver, as they did, just as the men's team pursuit Bronze medal in cycling was quite expected, but the Gold and Bronze to Pernille Blume and the woman's 4x100 metre medley was quite unexpected, not least because Blume suffered a personal breakdown and quit swimming in December due to stress ... she then changed her mind 3 month later, but started training in a way that would suit her better in a less stressful way, which apparently helped her to do well at the Olympics, because she was feeling no stress or pressure to make a big result, but took it one step at a time, just being happily surprised about it all.

Otherwise, Lasse Norman is the reigning Olympic Champion in the men's track cycling multiple race event ... just as 'Danish Sports name of the year 2015' René Holten Poulsen is a 3 time canoeing world champion, so they should be able to bring home a medal ... it's also looking good for the Danish woman's 49'er in the sailing events...

Ceres, do you happen to have clips of woman's 50m freestyle final and woman's 4x100m medley final? Nice to know Blume overcame her personal difficulties. I heard the bronze is Denmark is first Olympic swimming relay medal, and the girls were just 0.01s from a silver!

Not really ... this is the best I could find :

3 more medals to Scandinavia yesterday ... the expected Silver for Sweden and Henrik Stenson in the Olympic golf tournament ... and a much more surprising Silver medal for Denmark and Mark Madsen .... the first wrestling medal for Denmark since 1948 ... and likewise a wrestling Bronze medal for Norway and Stig André Berge.

Lasse Norman won the Bronze medal in the men's track cycling multiple race event ... but the Colombians have filed a complaint against Silver medalist Mark Cavendish, saying that he intentionally caused this crash, bringing down the Korean and the reigning Colombian World Champion, who later finished 4th in the race, just outside the medals ... and it did seem to be a deliberate act :

If Mark Cavendish is disqualified, Lasse Norman get the Silver, while the Bronze goes to the Colombian.

Denmark made Olympic history in the Badminton women's doubles tournament today, when Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter knocked out their Chinese opponents in the Semi-Finals, because China have been in every Olympic women's doubles final in the past and have won the Gold medal the past 5 Olympics in a row ... though Denmark usually take home an Olympic medal or two in Badminton, it's the first time ever that Denmark reach the women's doubles final or even win a medal in the women's double...

Besides Denmark being sure of at least Silver in the Badminton women's doubles tournament, Sweden are also sure to get at least the Silver in the women's Football tournament after they managed to get past Brazil in a penalty shoot-out in the Semi-finals ... now they face Germany in the Final.... otherwise Denmark and Anne-Marie Rindom took home the Bronze medal in the Laser Radial Sailing event.

Still no medals for Finland ... their best chance seem to be in the men's javelin throw .... as for the athletics events in general, it does not look all too good for Scandinavia and Denmark usually have no likely candidates to win medals, but this year we do have Sara Slott Petersen in the women's 400 metres hurdles competition ... she has shared 2nd best time in the Semifinals, so she could be heading for a medal.

Finally a medal to Finland ! ... Bronze to Mira Potkonen in lightweight boxing .... and also a Bronze medal to Swedish Jenny Fransson in Wrestling .... Denmark on the other hand took home two Silver medals , Emma Aastrand Jørgensen in 500 metre canoe sprint and Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter in the Badminton women's doubles as mentioned earlier + yet another sailing Bronze medal, this time to the Danish women's 49erFX.

The Norwegian women's handball team surprisingly and very narrowly lost to Russia in the semifinals, so no Gold to Norway, but still a very good chance to win yet another Bronze medal ... Sweden took home the Silver in the women's football tournament, just as Peder Fredricson took home a Silver medal in the Equestrian jumping event and Sofia Mattsson won yet another wrestling Bronze medal for Sweden ... Denmark's Sara Slott Petersen took home the Silver in the women's 400 metres hurdles competition, the first women's athletics medal for Denmark since 1948 ... while the Danish handball team reached the final in the men's tournament after narrowly beating Poland in the semifinals ...

A great last two days for Scandinavia at the Olympics ... the Norwegian women's handball team quite deserved and quite easily took home the Bronze medal, while Swedish Jenny Rissveds a bit surprisingly took home the women's mountainbike cross-country Gold, while the Danish two time cross-country World Champion Annika Langvad had a terrible day and came home empty-handed ... so great for Sweden but also a bit of a disappointment for Denmark there ...

    Never the less, young
Viktor Axelsen took home the Bronze medal in the Badminton men's singles tournament, beating the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Champion Lin Dan from China, which was quite an achievement considering Viktor's young age and lack of experience at this level, but it bodes well for Viktor at the next Olympics 4 years from now, because netiher Lin Dan or Silver medalist Lee Chong Wei (who are turning 33 and 34 in a few month) are going to participate next time, while Gold medalist Chen Long will be 31 and they are the 3 best players in the World at the moment, while young Viktor is ranked 4th ... btw, because Badminton is such a huge sport in China and Asia, Viktor has learned to speak Chinese, so he is actually quite popular in China .... and then the Danish men's handball team took home the Gold medal on the very last day in the 2nd last event at the Olympics (the last being the men's Basketball final), which is a huge achievement considering that it's the first time Denmark has reached the men's Olympic final and that they beat the reigning European and World Champions France that also won Olympic Gold in both 2008 and 2012...

So the final medal count for Scandinava at the Summer Olympics 2016 :

    Denmark : 2
    Gold, 6 Silver, 7 Bronze
    Sweden : 2 Gold, 6 Silver, 3 Bronze
    Norway : 0 Gold, 0 Silver, 4 Bronze
    Finland : 0 Gold, 0 Silver, 1 Bronze
    Iceland : 0 Gold, 0 Silver, 0 Bronze

Denmark have not managed to pick up 15 medals since 1948 ... and 11 Swedish medals is the best they have done since the Olympics in 2000 ... as for Norway, this is their poorest medal count since 1984 where they picked up 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals, but considering that they are a winter sport nation, they will surely do great at the Winter Olympics ... and we can probably say the same about Finland, though this was their poorest medal count ever at the Summer Olympics.
