The USL has no salary cap, and there's probably a decent amount of money to spend. The earlier cost-cutting may have been to free up money for a bigger signing that never materialized; so far SRFC's been pretty good at not leaking anything on new signings until the transfer is actually all but done. Also, even big stars have been known to move down to lower division clubs in their 30s in order to get their foot in the door on a coaching career.

Evan Ream @EvanReam BREAKING: I'm told Sac Republic have signed two new players. Forward Christian Chaney and right back Elliott Hord will join Sac from Fresno
Another new signing! I know we have the smallest roster on USL but wow, we're making moves. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilson_Kneeshaw
So we've suddenly added 3 forwards to the roster. Well, that's a good sign, but can't help but feel there's a glut up there now. I love these additions, can't wait to see them on the field against third division American sides.. Now if only Trickett-Smith gets back on the field... and ugh why did Klimenta have to get hurt, what a different feel when he's out there.
Well, I confused if he plays English tier 7 or Romanian tier one, and whether there's a practical difference. Or,is he not playing for a Championship side? Or, not at all? Just 22 years old, hope Carlton is a great influence on these kids.
Likely a just a short stint in the English semipro leagues in between pro contracts. Not that uncommon for English journeymen. He was only at Blyth Spartans for half a season.
He seems to impress enough to earn a contract but they don't last - he's running out of chances, maybe Cali life is what he needs to buck himself up...
Elliott Hord is now signed for the rest of 2016 http://www.sacrepublicfc.com/news/2016/08/19/srfc-sign-elliott-hord And he appears quite capable as a RB
Players need to appear in at least 5 games to be eligible for the play-offs, expect to see a lot of new faces in the remaining games
Nope. Loan players must play a minimum of five games the entire season, and one of those games must be prior to the roster freeze date, which is Sept. 6 this year. For the remaining players, including academy players I think, they just must be "legitimately" on the roster as of 9/6.
Good opportunity for all of them. Aside from Alvarez, none are getting field time. Cool they are suiting up for the Quakes
