USL releases 2017 Conference Alignment. USL 30-club map and conference alignment in 2017: pic.twitter.com/DqNfrG0h0E— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 9, 2017 Edit: had to go look at the NASL carcass http://www.nasl.com/news/2017/01/09/nasl-introduces-new-direction-in-2017
This would end St Louis MLS aspirations http://sbisoccer.com/2017/01/report-st-louis-soccer-stadium-bill-is-dead
Wow, This would be interesting, especially since none are aged "names". A lot of smoke this weekend swirling around a serious Galaxy inquiry into Chicharito to bring him together with the Dos Santos brothers.— Will Parchman (@WillParchman) January 13, 2017
Come on Colorado! #USMNT World Cup qualifier vs T&T June 8 to be played at altitude (SLC or Denver) before match in Mexico City— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 13, 2017
The only way SLC gets it over Denver is if the organizers throw money at USSF. The increased altitude and the trun out for each city's last WCQ clearly favors Denver.
Now that the league is announcing GAM/TAM amounts in trades, I hope someone will be keeping track. Couple notable moves from draft day: NYC FC traded $250,000 in GAM for the #3 pick. Houston trades $125,000 GAM and $75,000 TAM to the Galaxy for AJ De la Garza. Too bad we don't know how much TAM we received for Irwin. I suppose the Rapids counted on the conditional pick being a 1st rounder.
I thought no chance Landon continues to play but this keeps open the possibility he may play in 2017. http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/leagues/mls2.php?article_id=46841
So, Did players leave money on table with Collective bargaining deal due to their focus on Free Agency? Salary Cap= $3.845 million Per below another $1.6M So really ~$5.5M to spend on players in 2017 (Not counting that you can carry over some of the allocation money) Can't wait till we get to a $10M salary cap & $1M max non- DP salary Teams annually get $200k GAM & got $1.4m TAM last year (including last-minute, unexpected $600k infusion).https://t.co/rYaJpPw1Pu— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) January 19, 2017 Edit: Oooops- He did my math too And also: we should all use the term "salary budget" not "salary cap." Cap is ~3.85m/yr, but with GAM, TAM & HG $$$ it's closer to $5.5m/yr.— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) January 19, 2017
Hope we get the WCQ Salt Lake City and Denver are front-runners to host 2 #usmnt matches in June https://t.co/8Oa8eJ8Y0T— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 20, 2017
Has anyone been following the Cup of Nations (Jason?) I haven't been and so was surprised to see Algeria's 3rd and probably not going to make the knockouts. On paper it seems like they should be better. OTOH, their starting goal keeper is that guy who washed out w/the Union. Looks like Azira started Uganda's first game and was subbed at halftime, and then was an unused sub for the 2nd game. That doesn't sound good.
Just Cameroon's games and seen Azira unused in Uganda's games beyond the first half of the first game.
Azira is a limited player. If you're not willing to play a full-time destroyer-type DM, he's not your guy.
This (Mix Diskerud) is getting interesting. . @NYCFC’s 28-man squad list for preseason camp in Jacksonville does not include Mix Diskerud. #mls— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 23, 2017
China's Throwing money at players has to be hurting MLS. Giovinco's agent: "He received a huge offer from China. We need to analyse the situation. But it won't be easy to make Toronto let him go"— Tancredi Palmeri (@tancredipalmeri) January 24, 2017
Pablo coaching Mix could be interesting. Mix is a finesse guy and doesn't defend particularly well. Either he'd improve or sit.
Well USMNT kept pushing the defensive side of game on him, I think he could D it up enough for PM but that sheds zero light on it.
RSL will not be signing Landon http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/2017/01/25/landon-donovan-real-salt-lake-deal-dead-rsl
http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/...limbo-after-city-council-cancels-stadium-vote With the news of CLT2MLS dying a slow death, I wonder if the RFO will crawl on over to the CSSB and see if they'll play nice...would be nice to have players locally vs all the way across the county for USL games.
