Highlights: Savage And Cole Lift Rowdies To Win Over Strikers Rowdies Knock Off Fort Lauderdale Strikers on Keith Savage’s Big Night With tonight's result, the Rowdies take a 3 point lead over everyone else in the #CoastalCup, and are +2 in GD. Bring it home!— The ⭐⭐ Unused Substitutes ⚽ Show 💚💛 (@UnusedSubsPod) August 7, 2016
I'm back so previews again. GAME TIME: Saturday, August 27, 2016, 7:30 p.m. ET. STADIUM: Al Lang Stadium, St. Petersburg, Fla. TV: Bright House Sports Network (local), beIN Sports (national) STREAM: beIN Sports Connect The last two meetings (1-1 tie at home, 1-0 loss on the road) have been decided by goofy mistakes. Who knows what'll happen this time. Puzzling Rowdies seek scoring touch tonight
GOAL! Cole amends for not putting in that penalty. Funny as soon as Rayo finally starts playing better than us, we end up scoring. Shot deflected and went in off the post, so we got at least some luck.
GOAL! What a fast counter by the Rowdies. Great run and pass by Avila finding Hristov in stride, he doesn't put it in but Cole taps in the rebound. Need more speed plays like that.
With eleven matches left we can't take many more losses, so last night's win can hopefully start a roll. We need to pick up 6 points to squeeze past Minnesota for the fourth seed. That will require a lot of wins.
Can't drop any more points at home and gotta take more on the road. Highlights: Cole Scores Twice as Rowdies Down Rayo OKC 2-0 Joe Cole scores two as Rowdies top Rayo OKC 2-0 That explains why he got stopped I guess.
Another three points, pls GAME TIME: Saturday, September 3, 2016, 7:30 p.m. ET. STADIUM: Michael A. Carroll Stadium, Indianapolis TV: None STREAM: ESPN3 1-5-1 (W-D-L) all time against Indy Eleven and the last meeting was a 0-0 draw. On the plus side, our only win against them was in Indianapolis. Still, they won the Spring and are third in the Fall standings. This will be a test. Match Preview: Rowdies Head To Indianapolis
The Rowdies are missing out on an excellent marketing position by excluding Adu. Manchester United routinely shoehorn Rooney into the XI despite his horrid form because they know that he has marketing power. Football is just as much as it is a business as it is a sport.
We've got Joe Cole for the marketing now, and he leads the team in goals and assists. Adu was a fun curiosity for a couple months last year but I think most people here are over it barring results on the field. I'll admit some part of me really wants him to get a start for the spectacle of it but the minutes I've seen so far of him this season have been pretty pedestrian, worse than when he first got here.
IMO, if the rowdies were in the community more then Adu would be a real asset. Imagine if the team sent a contingent of substitute-type players to outreach events like free soccer clinics or autograph signings/giveaways at youth tournaments like Braden River. Adu in front of kids and their parents would be rock star-like (I.e. Former B-list-but-now-fading name-recognition rockstar, like maybe - well - FloRida. You get the point ). THAT is where I think the Rowdies are really under-utilizing him most.
They do seem to be doing some stuff in the community though just from their Twitter, but I haven't seen Adu in pictures of those events as much as guys like Juan Guerra and Keith Savage. Not sure what that means. Could always do more I guess.
My sources were right. No changes tonight. Rowdies subs: GK Glodack; M Burgos, Guerra, Nanchoff, Savage; F Heinemann, Preciado
