We have four guys making at least DP money ($457,500 guaranteed), and one making over the Under 24 DP money (Agudelo) which hits us for $200k. Full list, by guaranteed money... Maybe Bunbury, Rowe or Barnes are a tad overpaid (I'm not a Rowe-hater like many on this board) but really there aren't too many bloated contracts or overpaid players on that list. Caldwell, Davies and Woodberry are steals and Fagundez is great value as well.
Lee was at $193,750 last year, so that is a big raise. I don't remember that being publicized this off-season. Maybe it was built in to his contract? I would assume they used some TAM for this.

I suspect that Agudelo and possibly Goncalves may be asked to take a cut in the not too distant future. JoGo is quality, but there's significant potential for cap savings at that position if there's a crunch in the next year or two.
Don't know about you, but I'm only 10 years from retirement -- I hope MLS pays better than Social Security. It's actually nice to see that the bottom salary is a reasonable wage. Remember the days of sub-20K wages?
Tierney is seriously underpaid, considering his years of service and his credentials. That he's paid $100,000 less than Farrell, Bunbury or Rowe feels kind of wrong to me.
9 for me! But, I have a career wife -younger than I- who does very well, LOL. I do remember those days. Andy Dorman making 33k and bench players making 13k.
If you are Brazilian or Portuguese, you get to pick a one-word nickname that has no relation whatsoever to your real name, just for the sake of confusing people. I haven't decided what mine is going to be, but I'm going to write it in Sanskrit calligraphy to completely mess with people. Of course, I have a Brazilian colleague named "Edson" who, based on his general age, was obviously named after a certain Edson Arrantes do Nascimento. And that guy, well, his parents got the name wrong, because they wanted to name him after the guy who invented the light bulb. They just got electric lights in their village around the time he was born in 1940.
Agudelo is not classified as a DP by the team/league. His cap hit is going to be his salary minus what ever allocation money they have assigned to him.
http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actu...mls-en-2016-decortiques/678249?dlvrit=1944463 This article (from France) actually has a solid graph at the bottom listing the teams by salary. The Revs are tied for 12th with RSL with a payroll of $6 million. A few things stood out to me when looking at the team payrolls: The top 4 teams in salary this year did not win a single playoff game last year. NYCFC and OCSC (#2 and #4) both outright missed the playoffs, while LAG and TFC lost road wild card games. FC Dallas has the lowest payroll in the league - yet had the best record in the West last year and had the same record as the Shield winners NYRB. And they are right at the top of the league again this year. The article also mentions that they are the only team that doesn't have a single player making over $700,000. NYRB team salary comes slightly below the Revs. Seems like a different era for them from the Henry days.
Sorry, my point was more that 5 guys on the team are making at least DP money (as classified by the league). It wasn't to say that we have 5 DPs.
That is what I thought, I was just confused about the statement that Juan hits us for $200k on the cap.
No wonder he was quick to comment on how happy he was after signing the contract - we didn't hear a peep from Caldwell after he re-signed.
Barnes isn't even a starter and Bunbury and Rowe would probably not start elsewhere so yes, they are overpaid. Agree on the rest although Davies has done little to be called a steal this year. Diego should not be that far behind Nguyen in pay IMO.
I was wondering if the total pay would go down this year after losing Jones' $3M, and picking up 2 DP's who earn less than $2M together, but the total payroll went up slightly 2015 $5,921,005.08 2016 $5,980,837.58 Though even with the small rise, we went from 6th highest in 2015, to 12th this season. Though it's also interesting to note, had Kamara gone to Vancouver instead, as almost happened apparently, then we'd be 19th out of 20, with only Dallas having a smaller payroll. There are definitely some different ranges in salary, with 3 teams within $18-$22 mil, 2 teams at $10 - $12 mil, 1 team at $8.5 mil, then the next 13 teams are in a range of about $1.6 mil of each other, with Dallas alone at the bottom as the only team under $5 mil. My guess was that Mamadu Cande was the artist formerly known as Tony Frias III. Your guess is better.
