Ahah, Sarachan was on the photo with the other teams coaches. Are we the first team in history to have zero pick in the first two rounds?
3rd and 4th round today, we currently hold the first pick (42nd overall), the 12th (53rd) and the 24th (73rd). For those who wonder how we got the first pick of the third round, it was in exchange for Greg Cochrane in a trade we made two years ago. Not a bad trade given how Cochrane did in MLS... For sure we can trade this pick to a team who absolutely wants a player, but I wonder what we can get in exchange (an international roster spot?)... Otherwise I expect us to pick two or three players and send them to G2 for next season.
We currently have 3 open slots, two of which are presumably filled with Cole and Van Damme. And the third is rumored to be filled with De Jong (I think Jermaine Jones is a backup option). Either way, 2nd round players are 50-50 and 3rd round players are 1 in 4 chance of making MLS rosters and so forth. Whomever we pick is an almost shoe-in to go to LAG2. There's little value for these picks. In fact, I believe we even passed on one of our picks just to give an idea of what sort of value we place on the draft. Hopefully we unearth a gem or able to get some value (i.e. asset) out today's draft.
I'd probably pass on these picks unless there's someone from the LA region we were intending to pick up for G2 anyway. It's hard enough for the players we have to find playing time there, although defense is a slight exception to that.
With their third-round pick of the @MLS #SuperDraft, #LAGalaxy selects defender Josh Turnley https://t.co/SUcYS3mFH5 pic.twitter.com/h6Ely336oS— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) January 19, 2016 He's a left back.
Do we need to start the over/under on who contributes more to the team in the next two years? Ashley Cole or Josh Turnley?
I like his attitude, hopefully he becomes a serviceable player... http://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2016/0...ng-turn-heads-and-earn-first-team-contract-la
Every time I see new guy's name on the screen, I see "Josh Tu-" and have momentary flashbacks to the Josh Tudela era.
