(mainly because I don't pay attention to is) Glad to see a stadium being built for the Rugby team. I think I might go watch them next year!
So in the next few years, we’re getting an XFL team and maybe getting an NHL team (most likely the Coyotes relocating here). Hope the tickets for the XFL is way cheaper than the Texans. It costs “an arm and a leg” to get tickets for a Texans game.
NHL team - I can only hope and pray XFL - Who cares? League probably lasts 3 years max. 7 of 8 teams going into NFL cities seems criminally stupid. Starting up the week after the Super Bowl seems dumb as well. You reach that point of the football season, I'm ready to move on to other things.
I would relish an NHL team to support. I was a big Aeros fan from way back. When Gordie Howe played here!o Regarding the XFL, there is another league as well starting up for Spring American Football league action the AAL iirc. They are getting into markets that do not have NFL for the most part. Thus the XFL is.
Oh and our Rockets laid a shit brick up in Utah land last night. That team better rodeo the fuc{ up! Start playing like they should!!!

Our city has three football teams. One in each of the three most dominate codes of football on Earth. That being our Dynamo in association football, the Texans in American football and now the Sabercats in Rugby football. We actually have both an Gaelic football team. The Houston Gaels. I know some of those fellas n been to their games. Great guys and tremendous commrodarie. And iirc an Australian Rules team is here in our city. Can't recall their moniker. When the XFL starts, our city will have dual gridiron teams! Apparently in Texas, football truly is RELIGION! VAMOS HOUSTON!!!
The regular season starts for the SaberCats on Saturday against Austin at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. This game is apparently not available on ESPN+ but you can stream in on Facebook via the Houston SaberCats Rugby page. Saturday, January 26 Austin Elite v. SaberCats 7:00 pm KUBE-57/Facebook

SaberCats Update: the opening of AVEVA Stadium has been delayed according to an email sent out today to season ticket holders. The scheduled opening game on March 23 has been moved to Constellation Field in Sugar Land on Thursday, March 21. STHs are supposed to get information about ticket options. The first game at the new stadium will now be on April 13. Hopefully.
What are their plans for the original STH plaque? They’ve got 7 years to do it and it will still be quicker than the Dynamo who haven’t done it yet!!
The SaberCats took a loss in their 2nd game after leading for almost the entire time. Houston did get the bonus point in the loss since it was by only 4 points. Game #2: Saturday, February 9 San Diego Legion 17-13 SaberCats MLR Standings: 1. NOLA 3 g.p. 15 pts 3 w. +24 2. SDLE 3 g.p. 9 pts 2 w. +6 3. TORA 2 g.p. 6 pts 1 w. -1 4. They face Toronto who has to travel to Seattle on March 17 before coming down to Houston. Game #3 Friday, March 22 SaberCats v. Toronto Arrows 7:00 pm KUBE/?* *The schedule still says ESPN+ but there are reports that the SaberCats home games will be on Facebook Watch instead.
it was a tough loss too. they defended well for what seemed like the last 20 minutes, but then just got beat at the end by good runs by the San Diego legion.
In case you were like me and slashed everything you could as a kid with your plastic lightsaber, pretending to be in a galaxy far, far away from NASA missions outta Houston, to then be a Dad and get to relive the same all over again with your own fleet of little Padawans and their lightsaber quests in the backyard! The Frogs have added lightsaber dueling to their Fencing Federation as official competition. http://www.espn.com/olympics/fencin...cing-body-recognizes-lightsaber-dueling-sport
The home opener for the SaberCats is on Friday night at Constellation Field in Sugar Land. Game #3 Friday, March 22 SaberCats v. Toronto Arrows 7:00 pm KUBE/Facebook Watch Toronto lost at Seattle 35-30 on Sunday in a game the Arrows led 17-30 in the 2nd half. Houston has fallen to 7th place with the bye but they have only played 2 games where most teams have played 3 or 4. Toronto is in 6th with 7 points out of 3 games. A win for the SaberCats would get them up into the top 4 at least for the moment.
Just want to ask how to cross out the year “2016” in the thread title or do I need a mod to change it?
You would need a mod to do it. I don't know if we have one. A lot of our threads have the wrong year in the title but people just keep posting in them.
The SaberCats 2019 season is looking a lot like 2018. Houston has just 1 win out of 5 games so far. There are still 11 games to go so things could improve. MLR Standings: 1. The SaberCats have a Saturday night game coming up at the ballpark in Sugar Land. With the Dynamo playing early in the afternoon it is an opportunity to do the double. I'll be going to both games. Game #6 Saturday, March 16 SaberCats v. NOLA Gold 7:00 pm KUBE/Facebook Watch NOTE: AVEVA Stadium, the SaberCats new home at Houston Sports Park, is now scheduled to open on April 13 with a game against Seattle. We shall see if that happens.
The SaberCats finally got their 2nd win of the year (and the first ever against a team not named Austin). Thursday, March 21 SaberCats 29-27 Utah 2019 MLR Standings: 1. NOLA 7 g.p. 31 pts 6 w. +65 2. Seattle 5:30 pm KUBE-57/Facebook Watch That April 13 is the first game at new AVEVA Stadium. The team is calling it a "soft opening" so we'll see what that is like.
The SaberCats had a big lead at Gendale on Saturday night but couldn't get the win. The game did set the league record for combined points. Game #8 Saturday, April 6 Glendale 52-44 SaberCats 2019 MLR Standings: 1. NOLA 9 g.p. 38 pts 7 w. +68 2. GLE 10 g.p. 33 pts 5 w. +38 3. RUNY 8 g.p. 32 pts 7 w. +69 4. I'm still planning to do the double on Saturday but that's not much time to get down to HSP after the Dynamo game.
