25' 0-1 #9 Ri Hyang Sim perfect give-and-go through box top arc right to 9m center, shoots across mouth into back left low, under GK Holmgren's dive.

Koreans well deserve their lead at HT done by playing in some eye caching style, in a match where due to extreme heat every lost goal feels like 2. Now the question for them is stamina will they hold full 90. Sweden not out of it yet but they face the same question plus they have to press now.

48' 0-2 Brilliant team goal at supercooled speed-of-thought. LB chips long from just past midfield wide left to 19m center, #20 Kim So Hyang chest-traps leftward and splits 2 defenders. Square poke pass to #8 Choe Un Hwa at 18m mid-left, one-touch through-ball down mid-left for #11 Kim Phyong Hwa cutting through the befuddled line, to 4m mid-left. Fast but simple ground cross to 3m 1/3 right gets past Holmgren at near post, Kim So Hyang wins another race up centerline and slide-volleys up into roof. Ping ping ping, the whole team thinks two passes ahead and everybody runs :notworthy:

Korea's one cool customer. Put on them any Japanese WNT t-shirts from 2011-15, but take out one Miyama and Sakaguchi and that's what you'll get. Impressive.

    Sweden needs to beat Brazil.
They can't afford a draw, as Brazil would still advance on goal difference.
No way Sweden scores 9 goals against anyone, even against PNG.
It's just not in their DNA.

In the Sweden vs Brazil match, the announcer just said that PNG has 600 islands and over 800 languages and dialects, more than any other country in the world. Wow!

Sweden vs Brazil tied 1-1 near the end of the 1st half.

I am watching it: 1-1 at HT right now. It's a funny game, with Brazil having quite a dominance, but Sweden always being dangerous with counter-attacks.

Expected stars Stina Blackstenius and Gabi Nunes scored from CKs actions. I guess it could still end either way.

Brazil is the most technical side (an impressive back-heel from Yasmin was the top here), but they're also quite physical (they made a statement that Blackstenius & Co. couldn't "push" them away), to the point that Geyse deserved a YC for a reckless charge on Sweden's GK Holmgren (when off-side had already been called, to boot: borderline direct Red, maybe).

Papua new Guinea kept the game tied on 1-1 from 16' to 37', but they're now behind by 1-4 at half time.

Their goal was for sure huge for the home crowd. :)

The Swedish goalkeeper made a bad mistake which led to the Brazil corner which led to Brazil's goal.

Geyse has now been impressive in attack in a pair occasions in 2nd half, but she's maybe a little too much selfish, and she wants to do everything alone: running, dribbling, shooting... She could use a hand (a foot?) from team-mates also. A very promising player, anyway.

Sweden very dangerous with Anvegard (tipped over the bar by Carla).

Meanwhile, Korea scores 5-1 vs PNG.
Edit: ok, make it 6-1...

For sure, both coaches, of Sweden and Brazil, are screaming a lot and keep calling their players by name to give instructions. :D Very tight and entertaining game, although it slowed down a little in this second half. I wonder if we're going to see another goal for either team to likely seal the game (since there is a little more than 20' remaining, if we count the extra-time for cooling break).

Edit: referee now smartly exploited an injury to anticipate water break by a pair of minutes.

Edit: the injury apparently was worse than it seemed at first sight; Katrine is out, Victoria in.

Sweden have to try something right now, before it's too late.

Now Gothberg in for Aronsson (they're both DFs: I hope the one subbed in is more offensive? :cautious:).

Wow, my live streaming feed was cut just a second before the final whistle (they had to show a men's game from Spanish Liga).

Anyway, final time Brazil-Sweden 1-1 and Brazil advance. Sweden didn't produce enough to deserve a win (although it's a shame 2nd place was decided on goal difference vs Papua New Guinea, that was quite random).

Edit: meanwhile, with another goal in additional time, Korea DPR-Papua New Guinea 7-1 FT.

Papua New Guinea was clearly overmatched by everyone in their group. But even if they were to play the weakest team in the tournament(Venezuela or Ghana), they still would have been outplayed. Glad they finally got one goal in this tournament.
