Who watched the first game? Was it hopeful? Who is going to first home game? We need to get some Breakers love going. Any ideas?
I did. Well, if you're hoping Boston gets the first pick in the 2017 draft... Stop making terrible trades, build a solid roster from back to front, and start winning. At least their new home kit is rather nice, right? So there's one positive.
Watched, didn't see a lot to be excited about playing a team that also went through a lot of off season changes. Team played hard, executed poorly overall. Seemed like more passes found the touchline than a team mate, especially up the left side. No consistent flow, seemed like the players were trying to play to a system rather than natural instincts. Hopeful? If you are a ball kid maybe, you'll get a lot of action. And Beard at least looked like a professional coach, thankfully didn't adopt Durkin's "coming off an all-nighter" look.
To be fair to Derp-kin (I can't believe I just said that, and it will probably be the only time I'm ever nice about that man), that was only the first year. He cleaned up his look last year.
My favorite pair of midfielders: Bc I don't know what I'd do without her by my side @McCaLL2 👯 pic.twitter.com/1yszKSgDDP— Angela Salem (@asalem6) April 20, 2016
I avoided seeing him after the first year. I did by chance see him coaching a youth game recently, he presented somewhat better.
3 games, 3 defeats no goals. Another forward signed obviously to score goals but they might sign another player soon, if they can find the right one.
I've been pleasantly surprised with the level of play than I expected to be. Other than Kim Little destroying us, we've held our own defensively quite well. Abby Smith was great last week in goal. I'm hoping that Eunice Beckman can do us some good although I wasn't overwhelmed by the highlights I saw and I don't recall ever seeing her play on the German national team. McCaffrey and Simon look completely out of synch and have disappeared for long periods of games, Mewis too. Hopefully we can pull a Leicester City and discover amazing teamwork and hidden skills that we can capitalize on on our way to the top...or at least out of the cellar.
NWSL: Breakers lose keeper Smith with knee injury by Paul Kennedy, May 11th, 2016 3:22PM In just her second start, highly regarded rookie keeper Abby Smithsuffered a season-ending knee injury, another blow for the Boston Breakers, who have lost all four NWSL games by shutouts. Smith, drafted at No. 27 overall out of Texas in this year's College Draft, was injured in the first half of the Breakers' 1-0 loss to Chicago when she came out to attempt to break up a shot by Jen Hoy. There was no contact on the play. She had to be replaced by Lilly Stout, who has played in France and England. Smith was diagnosed with a strained ACL and torn patellar tendon. Smith had gotten her first start of the season a week earlier because of a quad injury to Stout. The Breakers re-signed goalkeeper Jami Kranich, who started eight games during the 2015 season, to back up Stout. They traded U.S. national team backup Alyssa Naeher to Chicago for national team defender Whitney Engenand draft picks. Naeher earned her third straight shutout in the win for the Red Stars over Boston. “Losing Abby is a blow, purely and simply because she came in and did really well against Portland and Chicago," Breakers head coachMatt Beard said. "It’s disappointing for her because she got herself into the team with Libby’s injury. I had a good chat with her yesterday. Obviously, she’s down, but she’s also motivated to have the surgery, begin rehab and get back as quickly as she can. From that perspective, she’s in a positive mindset, and the girls have been brilliant with her. It’s not nice to happen, especially in your rookie year, but she can become a stronger person and better goalkeeper off the back of it. When you go through something like she’s going through over the next six months, it makes you appreciate being on the pitch a lot, lot more.” Boston had earlier lost Sinead Farrelly, acquired from Portland in October, after she was hurt in an offseason car accident. She is on the 45-day disabled list. -- The Breakers, who have lost seven straight games dating back to the 2015 season, signed German forward Eunice Beckmann from Bayern Munich in a bid to jumpstart their attack. The 24-year-old Beckmann did not score in nine appearances (two starts) for Bayern this season as it won its second straight Bundesliga title. She had scored nine goals in 2014-15.
So the Breakers scored and won. All good. Besides scoring, Engen played more aggressively than I've seen her in any previous game; I guess when you are on the bubble for the Olympic roster and coach is in the house, you perform. We asked a Breakers official if Jill Ellis was going to be introduced. She said that no one was supposed to know she was there. I felt like a few of the players were super stressed on the hope of impressing her. But my real question to anyone on the Breakers email list, what's the deal with this song? Hi Ho Boston Breakers? I mean really? Has anyone heard of this song? Clearly not targeted at the tween/teen/team demographic that sells most of the tickets and clearly NOT the equivalent of Liverpool's "You'll Never Walk Alone."

Jeff Kassouf (@JeffKassouf) 6/14/16, 11:50 AM McCall Zerboni traded to WNY Flash, where she had her best years. Breakers get a second-round pick in return. Flash get even better. #NWSL All I can say is WTF?
Good in attacking transition, she is coming to be the link between defense and attack. Strong technically like every French attacking midfielder. Good vertical passing.
Agreed. I watched the "highlights" of the Flash debacle. Ouch. This building from the back forward does not seem to be taking.
It was doing okay. But then scoring never happened and a ton of unlucky goal line/may have crossed line saves, keeper with promise goes out for the season... Gets to a team. Twice now they've fallen apart against the Flash with two more games to go against them. I mean, they're -10 GD against all other teams in 8 games and -10 against Flash in 2. Seems like she/agent approached the team though so may not have been a desperation move to save this season. Just still don't get that 10 game loan of an international slot (if she's even available this weekend) for a 2nd round pick. Spoke to Matt Beard today. Karchouni trade started on her side, agent called the team and said she's looking for a new challenge. #nwsl— Steph Yang | Horrible Soccer Goose (@thrace) June 29, 2016
You're not alone Boston fans. It may be dark right now, but once you make it to the other side it will be so much sweeter. Until then here some fine folks to accompany you on your journey to success. As the saying goes, "misery loves company".
Nice montage, but look like people who were shocked and dismayed that there side lost. Pretty sure not the case in Boston. Breakers have a ways to go on the field get to the dark side before they can think about getting to the other side. I predict the Breakers will embark on their 5th consecutive Year 1 of a 3 Year Plan in 2017.
