good thing south korea won. this now guarantees that no more than 1 asian team will embarrass asia on the world stage.

the 3rd place match will strangely be more exciting than the final. however, i think since south korea and japan have a rivalry, each will still want to win.

the final will be a close encounter and it does not really matter who will win, so i will predict the 3rd place match:

it will be a close game but qatar will go through.

That game really came alive in the second half, the first half was cagey but that second half was certainly exciting. Well done to both Korea and Japan for clinching the Olympic berth. Iraq and Qatar both certainly gave a very good fight and it could have been anyone's game in either match.

Even if it's not really all that meaningful a Korea/Japan final is always going to be a battle, and that third place match should certainly be something else as well. Best of luck to both teams.

I have a strange feeling going into that game.. Qatar and its home advantage, with an Olympic ticket at stake :(

However, we should have our best 11 available from this game. Safa Jabbar is returning from suspension, Humam, Bashar and Ali Qasim should start.

This team is pretty strong, we got also a talented manager leading to right direction, but, how far this team can go at Oympics? The last bronze medal will be real hard to catch.

People thought we would embarrass ourself in Athens 2004, but we reached 4th place. People thought we would embarrass ourself in 2007 Asian Cup but we were champions. Never write Iraq off!!

Iraq won their respect with good games and results for last 10 years and more. Before we had only Iran the warriors putting their body and soul each match, now we got two teams in Asia that every team want to skip because of their talent and toughness. If you qualify in Qataris home against everyone including probably referees, Asian fans should consider Iraq one of the best 5 of the continent now.

Lol at all the abuse Iraqi's gave the Iranians after the Asian cup game but they cant take a few taunts. For your own good, beat Qatar. Dont let them go to Asia, I'd rather have overage players represent Asia than players from Africa/South America rejects FC.

Oh and beat Thailand in Tehran. Otherwise, you lose the ability to claim top 5 status.
