It's a shame that this award is always dominated by players from the East zone (Japan, Korea and Australia).

    2012 - Kagawa (Dortmund/Japan)
    2013 - Nagatomo (Inter Milan/Japan)
    2014 - Jedinak (Crystal Palace/Australia)
    2015 - Son (Leverkusen/Korea)

Unfortunately, West Asian players have been vastly overshadowed by players from the above three countries in European football leagues in the past and present.

Let's be honest here. AFC Cup is nothing compared to the AFC Champions League and Omar Abdulrahman is a better player than Hammadi Ahmad.

They need to rename the afc player of the year award to reflect that it's now a domestic award. Don't reward players for staying in crap leagues.

The AFC should cancel this "AFC Player of the Year" award or atleast have another Award thats called "Best player in Asia"

The Best player in Asia award is for playersplaying in Asia including players from non-AFC members countries but they have to play in any AFC league

The other award AFC Player of the Year should include only AFC nation players including the pros playing outside the continent

now you cant really have "the best player in Asia" in 2016 & 2015 but fail to qualify to the next world cup :coffee: & dont compare this situation to Gabon's

that just my opinion thank you and good night
