Can anyone catch Basel. This might be the season as Embolo looks to be on his way out? Will YB make a run at their first domestic championship since the 1985-86 season? I predict that Vaduz and LS will fight it out for relegation with Lugano. 23 July Lugano - Luzern FCSG - YB 24 July GCZ - LS Thun - Vaduz Basel - Sion
Not the right place for this I guess but are they planning on building a new Hardturm? I was just on the GCZ site and it was front page news! On another note anywhere where I might be able to watch the KR v. GCZ match online. I almost had a direct flight booked to head over to Reykjavik to watch it live but getting out of work for this week didn't happen.
Since I did a BCL prediction... here is my RSL... Basel can't go on winning for ever can they? 1. YB 2. Basel 3. Luzern 4. LS 5. GCZ 6. Sion 7. St.Gallen 8. Lugano 9. Thun 10. Vaduz
I fear they can!! It's obviously not good for Swiss football, getting like the SPL in Scotland where Celtic win it all the time.
Two interesting pieces of news there. Finally some movement for GCZ! That would have been really fun to have gone to Iceland for the match. Sorry that it did not work out.
I didn't manage to find a link for KR v GCZ, did you? I hope the new plans for the Hardturm are accepted this time, but does the population of Zurich really want professional football? I really think the vast majority don't! Hopp GC
Just caught the hilights after the match. Looks like KR put up a good fight but those 3 away goals will be tough to overturn. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
My predictions that no one asked for, but I'm giving them anyway Basel Young Boys Grasshoppers Luzern Sion Thun Vaduz St. Gallen Lausanne-Sport Lugano
The season starts today! 23 July Lugano - Luzern FCSG - YB 24 July GCZ - LS Thun - Vaduz Basel - Sion
23 July Lugano - Luzern 1-2 FCSG - YB 0-1 24 July GCZ - LS 2-0 Caio with two goals to lead GCZ over promted LS. Thun - Vaduz 1-1 Vaduz with a very late goal to get the point at Thun Basel - Sion At the half, it was 3-0. It is in the 2nd half as we speak. Delgado with 2 goals and Doumbia with 1.
Basel wins 3-0. Basel 3 GCZ 3 YB 3 Luzern 3 Vaduz 1 Thun 1 Lugano 0 LS 0 FCSG 0 Sion 0 Leading Goal Scorers: 2 Caio GCZ 2 Matias Delgado Basel 1 Leonardo Bertone YB 1 Assan Ceesay Lugano 1 Seydou Doumbia Basel 1 Yuya Kubo YB 1 Ali Messaoud Vaduz 1 Markus Neumayr Luzern 1 Simone Rapp Thun 1 Marco Schneuwly Assists: 10 with 1 Attendance Club Home Matches Total Average Basel 1 27,934 27,934 FCSG 1 12,890 12,890 GCZ 1 5,500 5,500 LS Lugano 1 4,320 4,320 Luzern Sion Thun 1 4,521 4,521 Vaduz YB
St. Gallen look bad. Really bad. They need to make some serious changes, otherwise they're going down. Thun/Vaduz was not the greatest game played, but Vaduz escapes with a point in a place where they've struggled before, so I'm happy. If you haven't seen Caio's first goal for GCZ, do yourself a favor and check it out. WOW!!! Luzern's kits are hideous. Lugano are going to be fun to watch this year. They might even stay up. If Basel doesn't win the title, I'll eat my damn foot.
YB had to deny Yuya Kubo the ability to play for Japan in the olympics, as Alexander Gerndt was injured last night in Lviv. Kubo is needed to cover for the loss of Gerndt.
30 July Sion - FCSG YB - LS 31 July Vaduz - Basel LS - Thun Luzern - GCZ I look for Sion, YB, Basel, Thun and Luzern to win this weekend.
30 July Sion - FCSG 2-1. Sion dominated much of the match, but FCSG scored on a very nice FK. Sion had 5 chances in the last 8 min, after Konate came on. Assifuah had about three including a open goal from about 8 yards away that he put the header over the bar. Konate had beaten the keeper and his shot was deflected off the post. Assifuah was there for the rebound, but put his header over the bar. Daniel Lopar played a very good game in goal for FCSG. YB - Lugano 1-2 This is one that YB will look back on and shake their heads. If they truly do want to put pressure on Basel, a team can not simply loose to Lugano at home. Even if the 2nd goal was an own goal. They need to do better at finishing. They had 21 shots, 11 on goal.
31 July Crazy day in the RSL, 21 goals in 3 matches. Vaduz - Basel 1-5 The match was 1-3 until the last few moments when Basel scored two late goals. Doumbia scored twice and Basel had 14 total shots, 9 on target while Vaduz had 9 total shots, 1 on target. Interestingly enough, Vaduz had more possession than Basel, 52% to 48%. LS - Thun 4-4 Wild match at La Pointaise. 8 different players scored. 4 goals from the 80' onward, 2 after the 90'. Crazy match. Luzern - GCZ 4-3. Another high scoring affair. Tomi Juric scored 2 goals for Luzern, while Caio scored 2 times for GCZ. In the US media, they are always talking about statement games. This was one of them. Luzern has declared their intentions to be a major player this season.

6 Aug YB - Thun Bernese Derby day. Can YB keep it going after their win over Shaktar? Sion - LS The first Romand Derby of the year. Should be a good one. 7 Aug Lugano - Vaduz Luzern - Basel Top of the table clash. Could Luzern win and take 1st place? FCSG - GCZ Which GCZ team will show up? FCSG needs something out of this match.
6 Aug YB - Thun 4-1. Hoarau did not start and YB was hanging onto a 2-1 lead until he was subbed in in the 75'. He proceded to score twice to lead them to a 4-1 win. Sion - LS 1-3. Bad times in Sion. Tholot looks to be on the way out. Konate looks to be transferred. Changes in store. 7 Aug Lugano - Vaduz 0-2 One week after being destroyed by Basel, Vaduz gets an away win at Lugano. Luzern - Basel 2-3 Luzern had Basel down 2-1 after two goals by Jahmir Hyka gave them the lead. Marc Janko scored twice for Basel to see them come back and stake their claim, once again, as the team to chase. FCSG - GCZ 2-1 Caio scores again for GCZ, but they lose to FCSG.
After 3 rounds. Basel 9 YB 6 Luzern 6 LS 4 Vaduz 4 GCZ 3 Lugano 3 FCSG 3 Sion 3 Thun 2 Leading goalscorer: 4 - Caio GCZ 3 - Matias Delgado Basel 3 - Guillaue Hoarau YB 2 - Seydou Doumbia Basel 2 - Tomi Juric Luzern 2 - Gabriel Torres LS 2 - Francesco Margiotta LS 2 - Simone Rapp Thun Leading assists: 2 - Nicolas Getaz LS 2 - Dennis Hediger Thun 2 - Matias Delgado Basel 2 - Christian Schneuwly Luzern 2 - Luca Zuffi Basel Average fans per home match Basel - 27,934 (1) YB - 22,710 (2) FCSG - 12,769 (2) Luzern - 12,540 (2) Sion 8,800 (2) Vaduz 5,680 (1) GCZ 5,500 (1) Thun 4,521 (1) LS 4020 (1) Lugano 3,906 (2)
10 Aug Vaduz - Luzern Lugano - Sion Basel - YB 11 Aug LS - FCSG Thun - GCZ Lots of interest on the Basel/YB match. Sion could see a manager change in they loose. GCZ looks to get points at a struggling Thun side, as on loan Sven Joss has been recalled by YB.
10 Aug Vaduz - Luzern 1-3 Schneuwly with 2 goals to help Luzern ease to the away victory. Lugano - Sion 3-1 Ezgjan Aliosk scored two goals to help Lugano to the win. Was this Tholot's last match at Sion? Basel - YB 3-0 It is awful hard to not simply call the RSL done now. Giving Basel a 6 point advantage over YB 4 weeks into the schedule? Very difficult to catch. 11 Aug LS - FCSG 0-0 HT Thun - GCZ 0-0 HT
11 Aug LS - FCSG 1-0 LS compounds the misery of FCSG and keeps their surprising start going. Thun - GCZ 2-1 Thun with two late goals, one on the last play of the 1st hals and the 2nd in the 88' to earn the win. Basel 12 Luzern 9 LS 7 YB 6 Lugano 6 Thun 5 Vaduz 4 GCZ 3 FCSG 3 Sion 3 Leading Goalscorers: 5 - Caio GCZ 3 - Marco Schneuwly Luzern 3- Ezgjan Alioski Lugano 3 - Guillaume Hoarau YB 3 - Jahmir Hyka Luzern 3 - Marc Janko Basel 3 - Matias Delgado Basel Most assists: 3 - Christian Schneuwly Luzern 2 - Nicolas Haas Luzern 2 - Martin Zeman Sion 2 - Nicolas Gétaz LS 2 - Dennis Hediger Thun 2 - Matias Delgado Basel 2 - Ofir Mizrachi Lugano 2 - Rúnar Már Sigurjónsson - GCZ 2 - Luca Zuffi Basel Attendance Basel (2) 28,729 YB (2) 22,710 FCSG (2) 12,769 Luzern (2) 12,540 Sion (2) 8,800 GCZ (1) 5,500 Vaduz (2) 4,746 Thun (2) 4,580 LS (2) 4,525 Lugano (3) 3,695
