Geraldes could be a blessing in disguise. Feel real bad for Gauld though, probably right back to the b team for him. Still can't understand this move. Hopefully petrovic goes. Another move that I really never understood
Worst kept secret, but official now - Francisco Geraldes and Daniel Podence return to the club, with Ary Papel (winger) going the other way until the end of the season. A Sporting SAD deseja a Daniel Podence, Francisco Geraldes e Ary Papel as maiores felicidades profissionais e pessoais.
Yeah, should've left these guys on loan. Gonna ride the pine. Can one of you break down Bruno Paulista vs Palhinha for me? Is one noticeably more talented than the other? Didn't realize Paulista was still with the club but I guess he is.
I think they're trying to move Paulista today. I'd say Palhinha is more of a DM while Paulista can do the #8 role. "Record" saying Petrovic will be loaned out to Rio Ave for the rest of the season (no option to buy). Not surprising if true - the player has a high salary and he's hardly played, it would be tough to sell him now.
We haven't managed to shift everyone but getting rid of Elias, Petrovic (temporarily), Meli and Markovic is a start. Bringing back Geraldes, Chico, Gauld, Podence and Palhinha could mean that they don't develop as much as they would out on loan. But at least they are back with the squad and we can prepare them for next season because they will be crucial once we've shifted even more of the first teamers in the summer
Transfer deadline has passed. The last news was that Wallyson joined Moreirense permanently, and we have an option to buy back if we choose. Here's the squad list for the rest of the season (as of 1-31-2017) including the new arrivals: Goalkeepers Rui Patricio, Beto, Azbe Jug Defenders Ruben Semedo, Sebastian Coates, Paulo Oliveira, Douglas, Jefferson, Marvin Zeegelaar, Ezequiel Schelotto, Ricardo Esgaio, Andre Geraldes Midfielders William Carvalho, Bruno Paulista, Joao Palhinha, Adrien Silva, Francisco Geraldes, Ryan Gauld, Joel Campbell, Bryan Ruiz, Bruno Cesar, Matheus Pereira, Gelson Martins, Daniel Podence Forwards Andre, Alan Ruiz, Bas Dost, Luc Castaignos, Lukas Spalvis
That's still a massive squad and it's a shame we couldn't get rid of Zeegelar in the end. How have we not decided to fix the left back situation? I know JJ apparently tried to get Jonathan Silva back but I cant believe they didnt have a back up plan The move for Wallyson is good for all parties. He will hopefully get lots of game time at Moreirense without the pressure of trying to impress and force his way into our side. Hopefully he gets his head down, relaxes and plays some beautiful stuff and then we get him back in a few years! I do believe he is still a great player but a combination of bad loans and injuries have stunted his progress
If you do the math, 4 players left and 5 came back... so we have a bigger squad then we did before. I have a feeling though Gauld and Andre Geraldes (maybe Matheus) will go to the B team (which sucks because they were playing well at Setubal). Chico Geraldes and Podence have a place in the team though. Adrien and Gelson have looked gassed recently so rotation with those two would be great. Also, there are still some countries whose transfer windows extend to the first week of February - I think Turkey is one of them. Maybe we can still sell a couple of players.
Maybe they'll get saved from relegation by gifted points due to Feirense fielding an ineligible player after the fact. Oh wait no, only benfica can rig something of that standard
Lots of news today, all official: Sebastian Coates has joined our team permanently after we agreed to buy him from Sunderland. He now has a contract until 2022 and a 45M euro release clause: http://www.sporting.pt/pt/noticias/...nicado-sporting-clube-de-portugal-futebol-sad Gelson Martins also renewed his contract with us until 2022 and a buyout clause of 60M euros: http://www.sporting.pt/pt/noticias/...cado-sporting-clube-de-portugal-futebol-sad-0 Lukas Spalvis has been loaned out to Rosenborg BK until December 2017: http://www.sporting.pt/pt/noticias/...cado-sporting-clube-de-portugal-futebol-sad-1 Glad to see Coates and Gelson confirmed, Gelson deserves a new contract, and I still personally believe Coates is an excellent defender in our league - it should also kill all this talk about him going to Benfica.
Official: Andre sold to Sport Recife for 1.2M euros (we owned 50% of his rights). Another flop signing, in fact the only meaningful thing he did was miss open nets that cost us the Champions League and League Cup. Most notable quote: "Andre reminds me of Liedson" - Jorge Jesus
Dodô a Brazilian mid belonging to Inter but loaned out to Sampdoria may be joining in also on loan net season. Two young Angolans are also rumored to be signed , mid Ary Papel 22 y/o and striker Gelson 20 y/o.
Welthon (Striker) from Paços Ferreira is being linked to a move to Alvalade this summer. The 24 year old has been the star this season at Paços and has 11 goals to his name. He's physically strong, aggressive and has decent skill on the ball, a sort of "Hulk" type player. He wouldn't be worse than Andre or Castaignos and we've seen what impact Soares has had at Porto. I wouldn't mind this signing.
André Pinto O Sporting oficializou esta sexta-feira a contratação de André Pinto. From Sp. Braga, a club from which no players have so far helped Sporting much once they arrived in Alvalade. Zero cost . Contract until 2021.
