Think the expanded roster and designated "TAM" that can be used to sign HGP's (not current ones) will help SKC sign Josh Sargent?
I thought it was pretty decided Josh was gonna take another year or two to make it to Sporting's payroll?
http://www.espnfc.com/major-league-...r-encouraging-investment-in-homegrown-players I think the roster updates discussed in the article above mean that there is more money and obviously 2 more roster spots than what we were assuming as of yesterday. This allows MLS teams to think more long term with a couple of their roster spots IMO. Right now SKC has 4 or 5 roster spots to play with.
There were reports he was close to signing in Germany last I saw. But it couldn't hurt. Would take another year before he could play, but could be signed and finish his 'academy' time with SKC.
Does this mean, perhaps, that Zusi is seen a mid, and not a RB? Or has Vermes been impressed with EPB's midfield experiment with the Us? (if it is this, then I apologize, andy was right and I was wrong). Or was it simply that they didn't see him getting minutes?
I'm assuming they see Zusi as able to play anywhere. Seems like they want him at right back, but they'd move him to the midfield if options failed.
A utility starter? There's a new concept? He starts wherever the need is greatest. He's a one man injury contingency. But if he gets injured?
I wonder if SKC would have any interest in Jack McInerney who was just waived by Portland. Good player and could provide some backup to Dwyer since Rubio is out until July.
McInerney is a better player option than either Saad or Iwasa, but I wasn't aware of the locker room baggage issue.

http://www.fourfourtwo.com/us/featu...urce=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_m_medium=t Interesting article on a number of fronts ... but this statement made me decide to post it here ... "In addition, homegrown players do not take up international roster spots, a massive bonus for MLS teams." Does this mean Salloi (who I've had as an international) not count as a part of our 8 spots?
I was thinking of that list when I made the post ... but I thought, heck, with MLS ... they may have already had a rule change since then regarding roster configuration!
So, to make sure I get where we are: We have four slots open, though Rubio will be one when he comes off disabled that means an INT player of some stripe vanishes?
Correct, although the INT player may not vanish to accommodate Rubio. Someone could get their green card, which would free up an INT spot.
Not sure that this rises to the level of an SKC rumor, but it appears to be an MLS one (rumor, not fact): Nemeth wants to return. This piece suggests SKC is the natural landing spot for him. I'm not sure how possible that is. Would a front three of Gerso, Dom and Nemeth work? With Medranda and Blessing, that would be all the depth we could expect for our front line. But the blood seemed pretty bad when he left. So maybe the issue is where don't we want him to land, where he should land so that he doesn't much affect us. Worst case would be someone like Colorado or RSL, whom he could improve enough to make them annoying. Best case, Red Bull, as we've already played. Still, he's out of contract in a month....
He would have to go through allocation, and we would have to make a deal in order to acquire his rights from someone else. As well as we're playing now, with Gerso's emergence, and with as much faith as PV seems to have in Medranda (who Nemeth would obviously replace), I don't see it happening at all.
The big question of if it could work is how much of a falling out did Vermes and Nemeth have? If it was ownership, there's a chance he'd return for a coach he liked. If Pete rushed him out the door, there's no chance.
