Lol man. Talk about taking the pessimism to the next level. We have no idea what team we'll be looking at to start next season. Give it the summer at least...

I'm being logical. When all our CBs were healthy, Jose didn't think we needed any reinforcements to that position. So I'm not sold that he'll buy one this summer unless we sell one. So without Rojo fit for the start of the season, were down to Bailly, Jones, and Smalling unless one of them as already hurt themselves in a preseason game, which given their track record, is likely.

Why would we? Nothing to gain from it.

There were strong rumors that he was in the market for a CB and the only thing that changed his mind were the play of our CBs. Agree with that but since then, Jones has proved that while he can be serviceable when he's on the pitch, he's simply not the most reliable.
I still think think that at least one of our current crop of CBs is going to go and my pick is Jones because of his unreliability.
Defensive solidity is at the base of a successful team for Jose, so it would actually be amazing if he doesn't strengthen us there by adding at least one CB.

I'd rather get rid of Smalling. Jones is serviceable when healthy, as rare as that may be. Smalling is shit when on the field and has a poor health track record to boot.

Rojo confirmed ACL tear. Done for 9 months or so I would say. Ibra is still just rumored torn ACL but everyone is reporting the MRI confirmed it.

Jones is probably better when he's available, but you may want to check his injury record in the past 2-3 seasons. Actually think he's been out injured more than he's been fit in that timespan.
Smalling, used to be almost as bad, but in the past few years, he's been far more reliable than he used to be and certainly way more than Jones. With Jones, it's gotten to the point where it's not even worth the trouble anymore. Sad to say, but that's how bad it's gotten for Jones and it's hard to imagine it will get any better unfortunately.

Sell Smalling and Jones. Buy two CBs. Keep Tuanzebe around for cover as the 5th option.

Nah, one of those two -- I'd day Jones -- but don't sell both.

Rojo is done for a long time and I doubt we'll even see him for the festive season fixtures. Buy two CBs for sure, one prime time CB and another who's happy to cover for Bailly and whoever.

We'll have to see what comes off it in the coming days, but Jose mentioned that Pogba may be a doubt for Thursday's game. That he didn't know yet if he'll play, that he doesn't know if he's injured or if this just a "super accumulation of fatigue" in his muscles.
And that whether he plays or not, there will be no complaining or crying, someone else will come in and the team will just get on with it.
Stay tuned on this one as well...

If we're missing Pogba and a decent Cb to pair with Bailly, I struggle to see how we beat City midweek.

He had to come off at the very end of the match, with what looked like cramping, hopefully. Both he and Bailly (who both played the full game both Thursday and today) looked completely knackered at the end of today's game. We'll have to wait and find out if it's anything more.

Mata is still hopeful he can return at some point towards the end of the season and take part in the final games of the season. He mentions how he's feeling much better and believes to be on his way back soon.

Since joining the club, Jones seems have spent a total of 727 days on the sidelines with various injuries. That's practically 2 whole years total. As talented and useful as he can be when fit, it's clearly been an impediment on his development and a liability for the club as well...

Hoping it's nothing too serious on Pogba and definitely not a hamstring as it's been mentioned. The good thing that we could keep him out vs Swansea as well, if he needs the extra rest/time off.

The bigger point is that we have to hope Jose really will have learned a thing or two in terms of squad management, on the back of what he experienced this season. Shouldn't be anything new to him, but these past few weeks should finally drive the point home.

as long as P6 is good for UEFA Europa League next week

on one hand he did help tremendously vs Burnley but on the other it was über stupid to play him for the full 90 in that game or even at all
