SKC is doing well in the central division right now. At the U18 level they're 3rd behind Lonestar and FCD. Lonestar, with only one name that I recognize, is having an outstanding season. The name I recognize is Jommar Reyes, formerly of the FCD academy and USYNTs.He's actually from Houston. I don't know what the story is there. I wonder if FCD found out they couldn't sign him to a homegrown contract as he's from Houston's "territory."

I was looking at the standings at the U18 level the other day. I was surprised to note that quite a number of MLS academies would miss the playoffs if they started today (DCU, Crew, Sounders, Portland, San Jose, Houston of course, etc.)

I checked the Aspire Academy website and couldn't find a schedule for this tournament. In any case, LAG plays Aspire Academy and Olympiacos.

A recap of TFC academy's showing at the Viareggio Cup in Italy.
    https://www.torontofc.ca/post/2017/03/20/viareggio-cup-journal-final-recap

In typical Canadian style they didn't win any games, but the recap says "TFC III turned heads at this prestigious tournament, showing their talent, grit, heart and determination against high-level European competition."

Ah, the never-ending beauty of Canadian moral victories at youth levels. I can just sense @CANPRO ruefully shaking his head.

Next up for TFC? The Dallas Cup next month.

3v3 draw with Juve is a nice result. As usual, they put themselves in a position to advance/succeed and fall apart.

These players are really going to have to up their games if they ever want to sign for first team and actually play. Just ask Jay Chapman and Jordan Hamilton....

The latest post named the goal scorers. I know how excited you are that Alvarez scored.

Whoever is the current youth technical director should be camped out at LAG academy headquarters for the next few years trying to get those two kids to switch back.

"With the 11th season of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy on the horizon this August, ussoccer.com sat down with new Boys' Development Academy Director, Aloys Wijnker, who will oversee all technical aspects of the Boys’ DA after transitioning from his role as a U.S. Soccer Coach Educator.

Before working in U.S. Soccer’s coaching education department, Wijnker served as the Academy Director for Dutch club AZ Alkmaar, which was twice named the KNVB's Academy of the Year in 2015 and 2016."

Q&A follows: informative and imo encouraging ...

Probably more money than SJ plans to invest in their academy this year.

The Galaxy U18 team should be playing older local teams, including college, PDL and NPSL whenever possible. It would save them $$$ and they would get used to playing against faster and more physical opponents. Learning to lose and learning to play as the underdog would help these kids improve mentally, technically and tactically.
