What's the use of giving Pulisic 5 min? He should substitude Passlack in second half. And why wait so long with Schmelzer? We were 10 when they equelized!

Disappointing to concede that kind of goal.

I couldn't see it well so I can't say whether or not it was a penalty.

On the bright side if this was Champions League knockout tie we would have advanced because we kept a clean sheet at home and scored away.

Schalke has been shit this season and we flushed away 4 points. They got lucky but we wasted lots of chances over the two matches against them.

castro is soooo piss poor ******** sakes we need someone else there, its like we are playing one man down in every game and then we cry about not scoring and taking chances, a cm in his position should create atleast 2 chances per game but he is creating none !

Genuine question, why does Tuchel rate Castro?

I think maybe he does lots of unnoticed good things that a non expert like myself can't see?

Castro does a lot of things at an average-to-slightly-above-average Bundesliga level. That and the alternatives at the #8 have been injured, awful, washed up and/or out of position.

He could give Merino a chance. Tuchel definitely loves a certain type of player: the experienced, above average, hard worker, completely buy into his tactical genius, Bundesliga player. Guys like Castro, Schmelzer, Toprak, Rode and Schurrle. Castro and Schmelzer annoy me most, because they should not be playing.

Giving Merino license to rumble into the opposition 18 could be fun. [emoji1] Weigl-Merino-Kagawa?

    Like what?
Castro is playing more out of necessity than anything else IMO. The fact that Tuchel tried an extended experiment of Raphael at CM is a clear indication of that. I think it's pretty clear that Tuchel sees Merino's role as deeper than the 8 position.

Then why doesn't Merino play the min that Castro does? He's been more impressive in his cameo role than Castro has been in his 2 years at the club.

Castro doesn't embody any of the attributes a CM of BVB ought to. He isn't adventurous, lacks aggression and isn't a big game player. He isn't one dimensional either because he doesn't have a single dimension.

Probably because Merino is seen as either a CB or a 6 in Tuchel's eyes?

I agree, which is why we went out and acquired Mo Dahoud. Hopefully Castro sees the field a lot less next year. But right now it's either Castro or Rode as natural 8s and as poor as Castro is, he's miles ahead of Rode.

I agree and think Merino is best as a 6 too, but I think he still offers more than Castro. At the very least he offers more defensively and gives the team aerial strength, both attacking and defending. Unlike Castro he can also improve.
