Well, Mike Burns is trying to fix the roster, so everyone should feel good... right?

    Old thread was here.

I'm reminded of a story I read years ago about how roster and lineup moves determined by popular fan vote was on average as effective as determined by a single coach/manager. I can't remember exactly how they measured that, which is key. But I firmly believe that crowd sourced Revs management would be better than Burns'....

Would not surprise me a bit if this new guy has already been signed, is in county and practicing with the team. would not surprise me if he makes the bench saturday!

In not so fun news, Tierney pulls out of the ASG. The one Revs player on the squad, and I was really looking forward to seeing him. Oh well!

BTW is anyone traveling to the game? I'll be there with the C38 crew.

At 33 years old this seems like a band aid. I am sure he is a capable player but I wonder just how much this guy has left in the tank, what sort of injury history has he had and can he survive on the plastic field. I am sure JJ must know this guy or about him. Wonder if he was the one that turned Burns on to him

I actually think this would be a good move. 33 for a center back isn't horrendous.

Especially if the FO actually thinks this roster is good enough to be a Cup contender over the next two to three years.

He doesn't seem to have an injury history, though I don't think he has played a lot of games recently either.

Just a year or so older the Carlos Llamosa when we got him in the expansion draft. He sort of proves the point on both sides -- two years of good play, followed by a pretty-much career ending knee injury.

I thought I had seen he had played 1,500 minutes or so each of the last two seasons, which is little more than a half season. Not sure if that's because he was coming off the bench or what.

Hearing from my buddy who at one point scouted for teams in German that this guy was pretty slow in his prime but reads the game pretty good and good with the ball at this feet

Hahahahaha... it's almost August and we still haven't signed anyone.

Where did the Burns is doing a great job guy go? Oh that's right, he's just reading now because we're too negative.

I think after losing a player to Indy Eleven Soccer Doc needs to pack the tar and feathers in the mini van and start heading to Foxboro.

Don't worry, as soon as they sign someone, all will be forgiven and we can go back to talking about how good Heaps and Burns are...

Hey look, we "almost" signed a player. Of course, he chose to go to a lower division instead.

Payback for Matt Pickens, when we forced a transfer fee out of them days after picking him up on waivers...

thats fine, he is a project. I want them to sign starters or someone who is going to push for starting minutes. This would have been a signing for the sake of signing someone. It would not have made this team any better now or in the future

From that tweet, this could be our new motto:
    New England a failli

As long as failure was in there somewhere..

Uhmm, I don't want to burst your bubble but there is no failure in there. It is still appropriate though.

    New England almost...

Your expectations are too high. They correctly identified the act that we need help on defense. That's pretty good for them. Anything beyond that's overachieving.

I mean, hey, it's not their fault that none of the other clubs in the league have released any high-level defenders recently.

    JJ will return.

    Revs will win some.

One Likely Outcome: Revs almost make playoffs, maybe end up missing by one game, eliminated in a tension-filled "need someone else to lose in order to back into the playoffs" scenario. It gets mentioned in the news. Wow, that's soccer excitement!

...andddd, there you have it - Air cover re-established, for at least the better part of the next season, if not more.
