It's time and I ain't got much to sweat yet.

    Kenley Jansen down? Eh...

Greinke has a shot for his arm? Eh....

Ethier wants to play more? Getting old hearing this - had his chances and should be happy 2 B in Dodger Blue another season.

Hanley Ramirez: uh...thanks and don't slam the door. Please, what a disappointment. Weak glove, weird attitude and streaky hitter at best these days.

Big Ups: Rollins & Kendrick up the middle.

Iffy: Losing Matt Kemp. The big stick second half last year. Is Joc Pederson for real? We better hope so.

Should look like a waay more solid team this year if the closer-by-committee thing comes out right.

The one thing that bugs every Doyer fan - can Kershaw show up like Baumgarner and put them through to a WS?:

"Q. What were your thoughts watching Clayton Kershaw struggling in those tough seventh innings in the playoffs?

    A. If somebody had told me that anybody would beat Clayton twice in one series, I would have said, "No way." I probably would have cursed and said, "No way," but, you know, it happens. I have to say, I don’t know if you heard his acceptance speech in New York. That last line was as classy as it gets. On a night when you’re being honored to bring up what didn’t go right is pretty special. " - ESPN

Sandy watching Urias @ Camelback yesterday. Urias is 18 y.o Mexican kid with a 98 MPH heater, poise and he's 6'2 200#. Impressing everyone with his command for such a young guy. File away for a couple seasons down the road.

The likely starting CF in spring training. Less than impressive at the plate last yr. with limited duty, he does look good with the glove and on the bases.

"3. CF Joc Pederson (6’1, 200 pounds, 23 years old)
Pederson was the Dodgers’ 11th-round pick in 2010 and signed for $600,000. He was committed to USC, but the Dodgers got him out of it. His father Stu Pederson was a former Dodger. Pederson has done about all he can in the Dodgers’ system since being drafted. He has won two player of the year honors, made multiple All-Star teams, had a Futures Game appearance and just completed the first 30-30 season in the Pacific Coast League in 80 years. The path for him to Los Angeles was cleared by trading Matt Kemp.

His stance is straight up-and-down, but he leans back before the pitcher comes set. He holds his hands at shoulder level and loads his entire top half when the pitcher begins his delivery. He has an exaggerated leg kick and is able to generate a lot of power potential. He gets his front foot down and has plus-bat speed. His hips clear nicely as he brings his hands through. He has a natural, slight uppercut swing. He probably won’t be a .300 hitter in the majors, but he should hit enough. And, coupled with his great plate discipline, he’ll be just fine. He does take too many pitches at times and needs to be more aggressive, but he was visibly timid in his MLB debut. He has plus-plus raw power and plus-power potential in-game. He’s an above-average runner and defender. He could be a 15-20 stolen base guy in the majors. He has an above-average arm that would play up if he had to slide over to left field. He should be able to handle center field for the majority of his career, as he has good instincts.

It’s anyone’s guess where he hits in the lineup. He has enough power to be a middle-of-the-order hitter, but also enough on-base skills to be a No. 1 or 2 hitter. At his peak, I see him as a No. 2 hitter with big power. He should be the Dodgers’ starting center fielder, as he’s the team’s best option for that spot." - Dodgers Digest

Key piece in the big trade with the Marlins. With Jansen out till April/May front office hoping the hard throwing Hatcher can take up some slack at the end of the bullpen.

Baseball trivia: Hatcher, in 2011, became the first MLB player in 60+ seasons to make rookie debut (2010) as position player and then follow up next season as a pitcher.

We still ain't got no stinking TV deal.....again! Another season w/o local coverage. Egads, how messed up is this?

Magic is a blowhard - wish he'd shut up with his nonsense about "we're working on it".

Hard to believe 70% of fanbase w/o TV coverage. Angels are free....go figure

Good on the Pods for signing Kimbrel - makes for a better Freeway series this year.

Still can't figure our why D's didn't sign a great arm like that. Gapping hole at the back end of the bullpen.

Best part of SD getting strong is the cheap seats down there. It's a good way to blow a day off and not empty your bank up at Chavez.

    Opening Day!

This season will be a little harder to get tickets in SD. Sales went up 600% over last year lol

Puig got his fanboys (me included) but, he's got these kinda stats to get from under:

"If you combine his last 35 regular season games and four playoff games to his current start, you get this: .224 average, three home runs and 12 RBI in his last 43 overall games. And if you subtract the seven games in mid-September when he was hot at extreme hitter-friendly Coors Field and Wrigley Field, he’s hit .177 with one home run and six RBI in 38 games (and 43 strikeouts).

That’s not exactly MVP territory for the ultra-talented Puig. Right now, he’s simply not hitting the ball hard. Possibly trying to do too much with right-handed power hitters Matt Kemp and Hanley Ramirez gone.
We’ve grown to expect a lot from Puig, who just reeks incredible ability. Maybe – hopefully, for the Dodgers -- there is no carryover effect from last season. This is just a crummy four-game stretch that will begin to evaporate Saturday night in the Arizona air. If so, he'll have to do it off the bench. Andre Ethier is starting for him in right."

We take the show up the road for some reality check: The Cove

    Good things at home (8-1):

Bullpen is no-namers but sound. Garcia, Howell, Libatore, Hatcher and others all getting it done.

Yimi Garcia, 24 y.o rookie looking like a lock-down late innings guy:

Starters: Brandon McCarthy the one to watch for me. Big year from him (2-0 right now) and, Ryu comes back, then it's lights out the rest of the way. Greinke and Kershaw in form already.

Hitting: some big numbers overall and Gonzo leading the way. Joc Pederson looks waaaay better at the plate than last year. Kendrick is big ++++, Grandal is iffy, Puig not healthy and not hitting much. Rollins, Uribe, Crawford still not motoring. At home the numbers look good - on the road we need a few more people to step it up.

Question Mark #1: is Alex Guererro for real? The guy crushes it and can play adequate D in several positions. How can they not keep him and make him the 3rd baseman?

Depth: best in last ten years. Van Slyke, Ethier, Justin "Money" Turner, and Ellis - BALLERS. We got some things going here. Seager comes up in July? and we're locked in. Seager is tearing it up in AAA - look out!

Dodgers 3-0 Padres. 7 innings from Greinke - the usual lockdown effort from Ace2.

"Greinke (3-0) improved to 21-1 with a 1.88 ERA in 31 games against division opponents since joining the Dodgers as a free agent before the 2013 season. He is 15-0 in his last 19 starts against NL West teams." ESPN

Should be a no-brainer to re-sign Zack this year?

Stanton's MegA 467 ' touched down in Lot G. Stories kicking around about same. A good one from Petros on
    on his show today:

'Back in the '90's that was the Dodger players parking lot. Mike Piazza (legend has it) was wearing a red SC tee getting into his convertible when he first heard the news he'd been traded to the Mets' .

Oh woe and remember that messed up deal well.

"That's how I envision judgment day: We'll be staring at our phones as the earth breaks open and hot fire pours from the sky." - Mina Kimes/ESPN

    Dodger Fan Truth...still:

"Perhaps the Dodgers' accelerator will break new ground. What's ironic, though, is that MLB already owns some of the most impressive technology on the planet: the league's streaming service, which fans in LA can't access because it would jeopardize the team's multibillion-dollar TV deal. So Dodgers diehards must find their own workarounds, like paying for an online service that masks their addresses, a trick that lets them access local games on MLB.TV. Some might call it innovation." . Kimes

"The Dodgers haven't had a rain out since April 17, 2000, and have gone a record span of 1,230 games without having a game washed away."

Rain today and thru the nite. Game tonite looking wet around the edges.

Not much happening on AM radio that caught my interest post Sweep.

A slump's a slump unless you're in the Champs house and want to make some noise. Never happened.

Slagging on 2-3 guys is wrong. There's people getting on base but nobody turning on anything.

Puig and Crawford (led majors in hitting 2nd half last year) are needed soon as big hitting bench guys are getting back to mean averages and that lineup needs another big bat around Gonzo.

Nice homestand coming and at 17-5 the D's need that home stuff right about now.

Gabe Kapler sez this will help. I like it but Puig in the 2-hole and Crawford in left is good too,
