Lee Seung-Woo should pray that he's lucky enough to be poor man's Bojan. Whiny, unjustifiably cocksure, and nothing to show.
No one is really "good" in this tourney. It's the issue with young tournaments - it's super hard to evaluate the actual skill level of some of the players/teams. LSW will be fine, probably. Even if he isn't w/e.
Not good at the scale of young teams. They showed nothing, they just get benefice from korean mistakes. Defensively, since Korea didn't attack really well, Belgian had nothing to show neither. This ending is too crual...LSW is not what I expected, but I don't blame him but the whole team, because the duty of creativity was delegated to him, only him was charged to create chances.
Meh, it's a U-17 tourney. Them kids did good. More than anything, it just demonstrates how exhausting these sorts of schedules can be on teenagers + a potential lack of depth on our team.
We should never get pissed off because of a youth tournament (unless there's exemption on the line). Kudos to the kids for their hard work. They need to be a little more fearless next time they're in the knockout rounds...
Belgium are a solid team. They created plenty of chances in group games and showed potential. That said Belgium had our number today from the start. Even before the goal they were composed with seemingly perfect strategy and formation against us. The were blocking all our passing lanes while theirs were wide open. Even missed passes were falling to their feet. I can't break down the tactics but I wonder if it was just tactical superiority. After giving up that goal in that manner it was over. LSW missing that penalty was just a reflection of how badly the team was shaken, lacked composure and class. What a letdown. Korean players need to be exposed to bigger stages and challenges. That was a really bad defeat on many levels especially bc these kids showed such potential.
God that was so frustrating to watch. The worst is that they gave us so much false hope with their performances in the group stages. I think it was mostly mental and the kids basically threw away the first half. Finally woke up after 45 minutes and created some chances but ridiculously wasteful with the ball. LSW...nothing to say he was almost invisible and then screwed up the PK that could have turned the match on its head.
I am pretty sure most ppl here are mad mainly because we lost to such a shitty team, considering how we played against stronger teams in the past few weeks. Belgium was not even that good..
These kids did well. I wish they could've passed the ball with more fluidity. Their passing game was way off. Lee Seungwoo's hype, unfortunately, never materialized. Oh well. Here's to hoping the U-23 squad do well next year.
Twas good while it lasted. Great memories from the group stages for sure. Hope these guys continue to develop together and prove all the haters wrong in the years to come. Also, anyone notice the height/physique difference between PSH and their #4 CB at the end? Pretty hilarious haha
Lee Seung-Woo's overall tournament: +Work rate +Off-the-ball +Set-pieces -Basic passing/passing accuracy -Penalty conversion -Complaining -Simulation -Goals (0) -Physicality -Assists (0) -Selfishness with little to no end product Choi Jin-Cheol is also a poor tactician and was finally found out. Probably a decent man manager and has had good subs but completely exposed by superior Belgian strategy. I think, based on errant passes in the first half, the team peaked early.
Again, I seriously consider some of you folks to take a chill pill or two, I mean no offense and I understand that you're all upset quite a bit, but the reality is that this is the Youth tournament after all, and simple mistakes are bound to happen especially at these late stages. I haven't slept a wink for a day just to support our boys down to the bones, and I am still proud of what they've achieved in this tournament despite the lost today. Having reached their third Round of 16 run with having conceded zero goals + topping the group, becoming the first Asian side to beat Brazil, and some pretty glorious plays in the group phases; I honestly can't be anymore happier, these kids did well and hopefully they'll keep continuing to put in some good results and good displays as they've done thus far.
And that's why we are more disappointed....? Considering our performance in the group stage, we could've played way better. You cant say this Belgium team is better than the teams we played against in the group stage.
