This is like something I'd expect to see out of my single player footy video game tourney. Haha. But it's real life. Awesome.
As expected, parking the bus using a B-team worked nicely. Credit goes out again to the Korean defense. Wow. These kids are really setting an example for all Korean NTs in terms of organization and defensive IQ. The downside to this game was that Korea's possession was awful, often losing the ball or gifting it to the opponent. The forwards were often outmuscled by the English defenders and had very little action. Park Sang Hyeok seemed totally gassed out by the end of the match. The kid deserves a good and long rest. Now hoping the best for the R16 and hoping Korea comes far ahead in this tournament.
Oddly enough, England may still qualify with only 2 points, lol. Lot of the 3rd/4th place teams right now have a tough final match and inferior goal difference. That'd be hilarious if a team advances with no wins and 2 points.
as others have said, Kudos to CJC and the boys. going into knockouts w/o conceding with relatively fresh legs on this stage ... amazing. i know we're worried about hitting the net, but we've all been pining to see this kind of organised D and goalkeeping come up the ranks. very 'Azurri' like performance from the kids so far.
Good job to us but seriously, who was the BSK Genghis Khan and why am I getting blamed on for being him?
Apparently as of right now we have a higher chance of facing Ecuador in the round of 16, but there's still a pretty good possibility we could face Chile (the home team) or the USA (who we lost to twice recently). There's also still some chance of us facing Belgium. Facing the 3rd place team of Group C is the least likely out of all possibilities (1/15, a mere 7% chance) which is good because that group on paper looks the toughest: We've guaranteed ourselves that we avoid Nigeria and Germany in the next round, and there's probably about 99% chance that we also avoid Mali, who are in that aforementioned less likely group C and play 0-2 Honduras in their final game. We are however, very likely going to face France if we move on to the last 8 unless a very weak group E runner up somehow upsets them
Announcers made the observation that this was the PL top academy youths vs. KLeague top academy youths. Korea has come a long way.
can't forget the managers. the upper echelon is there or will be there shortly. exciting times ahead and Im sure this will catapult the league. better managers equals migration of even more better players. would not surprise me if Ronaldo, Suarez and Tevez make their way back eventually. theres even talk of Muntari making his final stand in the PL
Distracting the manager's interview Park Sang-hyeok's voice is ... not what I imagined lol and our defense wall
