no let's be real, LSW was doing the beautiful thing of toeing the fine line between appropriate behavior and instigating by leaving his armed cocked, indicating it should be korea's possession, while sticking it in lincoln's face, also while giving him a staredown. totally acceptable but that swagger and confidence to stand up and play some gamesmanship was such a nice contrast from the usually sporting persona we see from korean athletes. then he emphatically calmed things down as if to show he's the bigger guy. i love it.
"It was a very difficult match against the Korea Republic team that has done very well against us. They defended strongly and prevented us to approach their goals. We will now prepare for the match against England with the ambition to win." Carlos Amadeu, Brazil coach "I would like to thank all the fans who made the trip to Chile and those who have supported us from Korea. We managed to set our game tactically. Players sacrificed themselves for the team and their partners. We have worked hard to be ready physically and it paid off against Brazil." Choi Jin Cheul, Korea Republic coach.
i remember watching our really 아쉬운 loss to brazil in the u-17 wc in canada with SYR, LCY(?), and KSY. this win seems like concrete progress in not only the quality of players korea is producing, which we have witnessed for several years now, but earning results as well. so weird to see such an unexpectedly good team performance. it almost makes more sense that CJC totally just mailed it in during the suwon cup, because those performances were so poor in contrast.
That game you are referring to was U-20's but yeah, without a doubt that was thus far our most exciting youth generation. There was always this "Brazil Hump" that loomed over us at youth stages because we had faced them so often at various youth levels, especially at U-20's, and we had lost every time to them in games that mattered basically. It feels so good to finally get over that hump and get a victory, and not a fluky one at that either. Very well played from our side.
not a time celebrate too much, we won our game against brazil, which puts us in a driver's seat to win the group and set the team up for knockout stage
Funny enough, looking at how the tournament is set up, it may actually benefit us to finish runner up in this group, because that would set us up to face the runner up of Group F in the round of 16 which might be the weakest group in the tournament. Provided that France do their job there the second place will be either New Zealand (only qualified because they play in OFC with no competition), Paraguay (who we beat in the friendly earlier) and Syria (who we destroyed 8-0 at the AFC U-16 semis), none of which scare me at all. Finishing first in our group sets us up to face the best 3rd place team from Groups A/C/D, which are all pretty tough groups.
Goal of the day Brazil 0-1 Korea Republic, Jang Jaewon (79) This goal was scored by Jang, but a large chunk of the credit must go to Kim Jinya. Korea Republic's No14 picked the ball up on his side's right, nutmegged Lincoln before skipping past another challenge and feeding Lee Sangheon by the byline. The No8 twisted and delivered the ball into the penalty area for the waiting Jang to slam home and round off a superb team goal. The stat 1 – Korea Republic are the first Asian side to defeat Brazil at the U-17 World Cup, an AFC team victorious at the 16th time of asking. http://www.fifa.com/u17worldcup/news/y=2015/m=10/news=stirring-start-in-santiago-2718380.html
That's twice this year where Brazil implodes with their childish actions/behavior. Fcuk Brazil and I am glad they lost today.
