Did anyone manage to get tickets during the final sales phase? Looks like the final match did not have any tickets available at all.

Still scoreless in Guangzhou after the first half. So far it's a continuation of the first leg with few quality chances on either side. Al Ahli are holding their own and Scolari was forced to substitute his keeper due to injury.

This looks like the kind of series that could be decided by a single goal.

Guangzhou are up 1-0 and it looks like Al Ahli just sealed their fate with a stupid red card. Although in theory one goal could change everything.

And Guangzhou Evergrande take the title 1-0 on aggregate as expected. But it's worth mentioning that Ahli's Lima missed a chance around the 80th minute that could have changed the entire outcome.

The same guy who was ta fault for the lone goal!!!!

I am curious about foreign player rule.... if Guangzhou could field all four of their Brazilians.

The goal itself was sick, and the highlights worth watching in their entirety:

Good luck getting those. I imagine it's a matter of price.
Robinho wasn't eligible for the Asian CL with the 3+1 rule.

I imagine he will be eligible in Japan.
    Oh Lima......

    UEFA: Futbol Club Barcelona (Spain)
CONMEBOL: Club Atlético River Plate (Argentina)
CONCACAF: Club de Fútbol América S.A. de C.V. (Mexico)
AFC: Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao Football Club (China)
CAF: Tout Puissant Mazembe (DR Congo)
OFC: Auckland City Football Club (New Zealand)
    Host: TBD (05.12.15)

Very much looking forward to Club America vs. Guangzhou Evergrande. Both are true giants in their respective confederations in terms of budget and attendance/support. Guangzhou's victory means that Qatar's Al Sadd is the only Western Asian club to win the AFC CL in the last decade (2011). This year's Guangzhou isn't as spectacular as the version under Lippi - but they get the job done. Is Paulinho the first player to win both - Copa Libertadores and AFC Champions League?

China now has a total of three Asian CL titles. Level with Iran and only one behind Saudi Arabia.

As for Japan 2015 favorites Barcelona, they look to be in impressive form after embarrassing current CWC winners Real Madrid 4:0 at the Bernabéu. I would say tune in for the other tournament stories because it will take a miracle to wrestle this one away from Barcelona.

A 5-0 thrashing of Shonan Bellmare has confirmed Sanfrecce Hiroshima winners of the Second Stage on the Stage's final day of play.

Second Stage - Final Standings (top five of the 18-team standings)
    1 - Sanfrecce Hiroshima ...... 40 pts
    2 - Kashima Antlers ............ 37
    3 - Gamba Osaka ................ 31
    4 - Urawa Red Diamonds ..... 31
    5 - Yokohama F. Marinos ..... 29

Sanfrecce Hiroshima have also finished top of the Overall Table which automatically qualifies them into the Final of the Championship Playoffs.

    Aggregate table (1st Stage + 2nd Stage)
    1 - Sanfrecce Hiroshima ....... 74 pts
    2 - Urawa Red Diamonds ...... 72 pts
    3 - Gamba Osaka ................. 63 ... +19 goal differential
    4 - FC Tokyo ........................ 63 ... +12
    5 - Kashima Antlers ............. 59

Five slots were allotted for the Championship Playoffs:
1st Stage winners: Urawa Red Diamonds (41 pts)
2nd Stage winners: Sanfrecce Hiroshima (40 pts)
Top three clubs from Overall standings: Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Urawa Red Diamonds, Gamba Osaka

So with only three clubs occupying the five slots, the Championship will be a three-club playoff tournament.

    28 November: Semifinal (one-off tie)
Urawa Red Diamonds -v- Gamba Osaka

2 and 5 December: Championship Final (two-legged series)
    Semifinal winner -v- Sanfrecce Hiroshima

Does CA have the highest budget and attendance in CONCACAF? (or is Monterrey's new stadium pulling in the crowds?)

América wins the CWC and I'll use its logo as my avatar as long as they get to rock the World Champion badge on their jersey.

Sorry Jared, I will be supporting the rep of my confederation of residence in this one. In any case, the best this side of the bracket can strive for is 3rd place. Either club will look like a Honda Civic in the semis - red or yellow. :D

Guangzhou Evergrande's ACL win could spark Chinese dominance

I believe a dominant CSL will positively push the J. League and K-League and grow the profile of the competition in East Asia. Getting a beating in China in front of large crowds will spark competitive pride in the somewhat insular sport markets in Japan and South Korea. Australia too will fall into this category once the A-League reaches a more mature stage.

In other news, Emiliano Tade is back at Auckland City. That is a good boost for them.

Anybody know how many River Plate fans will travel to Japan? I wonder who will bring the most traveling fans, River or Evergrande?

...to be fair, the fact that there's been only one CONCACAF-CONMEBOL match in the CWC since 2005 tells us that when CONCACAF champs have been placed in the "easier" half of the bracket, they typically waste the favor.

Notice: both of the times that African teams have made the CWC final, they eliminated the CONCACAF champions in the quarterfinals.

Guangzhou already submitted a team of 35 players to FIFA. All 6 of their Brazilians are on the 35 member list. They will cut down to 23.

Robinho is almost certain to make the cut as he had been playing regularly in league matches. Alan, who was Europa League top scorer from last season is rumoured to make the team. He made a single appearance for Guangzhou back in January before receiving a serious injury. He had not featured because Guangzhou bought Robinho after he got injured and he was not registered for AFC Champions' league and Chinese Super League. Rene Junior is the 6th Brazilan, but he has been in Brazil resting for the last 6 months. He is not even in China.

The Chinese media expected 5 Brazilians: Elkeson, Paulinho, Robinho, Alan and Ricardo Goulart. The five of them could make a run in the Copa Libertadores.

Gamba Osaka, who were defeated in the ACL semis by Evergrande, kept their CWC hopes alive by beating the Urawa Red Diamonds and making the J. League final series. The host team will be one of the following:

    Gamba Osaka - Sanfrecce Hiroshima

Both played at the CWC previously. Remember Gamba's 5-3 loss against Manchester United? If Gamba make it and survive the first game against Auckland they could play in their home city. Although at the venue of local rivals Cerezo Osaka.
