Sakai extended his contract until 2020. Ito's contract still runs until 2021 afaik. Who can update the thread title?
not the most polished footballer but wears his heart on his sleeve and such a passionate player. great mentor for ito.
Sakai resigned from the national team (got too few chances to play in the last couple years so he thinks the place is better used for a younger player) and gave up captaincy (Aaron Hunt is the new one, he will still care for younger players). https://www.hsv.de/en/news/meldungen/saison-2018-19/juli-2018/sakai-i-can-now-focus-entirely-on-hsv/ Both him (1st half) and Ito (2nd half) played one half in the friendly 3-1 win against AS Monaco.
As was the case last season, Hamburg players' finishing is horrible, and they still need a potent striker/finisher upfront. They will go nowhere and will struggle unless they solve this problem.
They might want to re-consider that "GK is a footballer" strategy because it was painful to watch (or get a better keeper)
Both started in the DFB cup match against a 5th level league club, HSV is already ahead 2-0 after a quarter hour.
Tatsuya Yamazaki and Taria Tomita both 24 years old. No wonder nobody knows them as they are playing for a 5th tier league.
Both starting tonight: Das ist unsere Startelf für #HSVDSC 1⃣1⃣#Pollersbeck, #vanDrongelen, #Bates, #Douglas, #Narey, #Holtby, #Lasogga, #Ito, #Hunt, #Sakai, #Mangala 🔷 #nurderHSV pic.twitter.com/J9nvWOTv6q— Hamburger SV (@HSV) August 27, 2018
In the goalless draw in Fürth (now 4th, HSV is 3rd) Sakai started and Ito was subbed in for the second half. Opposite Ideguchi was allowed to kill off the match being subbed in in the last min.
Sakai starts. Ito had some amazing games in B1 last year. Seems like he had a few steps back this season.
